Djimba (Fabia's stage name) is one of my best friends in Tbilisi. I always try to attend all the openings of new exhibitions. This time, the opening was titled "DJIMBAVERSE." The multidisciplinary German artist has been living in Tbilisi for some time. Currently, her abstract painting compels us to immerse ourselves in thought and connect with one another through meditation. Fabia also performed one of her songs, which you can follow via the link on her Instagram page. Masha, the owner of the "Artmuse" gallery in Tbilisi, located at 15 Galaktion Tabidze Street, acted as hostess, always welcoming to all who visit her space. In September, it will be my turn, as she plans to revive a collection of provocative religious art that I acquired in its entirety. The event was attended by art enthusiasts and several other artists I always follow with interest. Returning to Djimba, I remember the first time we met and had a long conversation about why a European from the EU like us came to live in Georgia. I decided to accompany the video with the song "Donna Donna" by Joan Baez, which is about freedom. The two of us, Fabia and I, unlike the calf condemned to the slaughter, decided to find a way to escape and resist the passivity of life, as one verse of the song says, "Whoever values freedom... has learned to fly." Every day I see a now-small group of people blocking Tbilisi's main avenue near the parliament. They too are fighting for freedom and oppression, although their struggle is completely opposite to mine, which made me fly and escape the EU. Life is full of paradoxes; what is freedom for some is slavery for others. Perhaps the calf doesn't want to escape the slaughterhouse because its freedom is to become a plate of peppered sirloin steak served in a dining room at the Ritz Paris.
