We are thrilled to welcome pianist Quentin Derac as our featured soloist for ICYONY’s Summer Fest Concert on Saturday, July 25! A Los Angeles native with more than 17 years of classical piano experience, Quentin is currently studying at Howard University under Dr. Natalia Kazaryan. His artistry extends beyond the concert stage into music production and engineering, blending tradition with creativity in a truly unique way. As a proud Haitian and Mexican-American artist, Quentin continues to explore and express his musical voice through every performance, and we are honored to have him join the ICYONY family for this special concert. ITS A BIRD ITS A PLANE ITS A SASSY BATTY MAN! Somebody tag her pastor. We need to take her to church. Enough is enough. We keep treating this like it's just another viral meme, but this behavior has real consequences. Calling the police on innocent Black people because you feel "uncomfortable"... making false accusations... weaponizing tears... trying to control public spaces as if you own them... None of that is harmless. It puts lives at risk. As a Black person, I shouldn't have to wonder whether going for a walk, shopping, birdwatching, sitting in a park, or pulling into my own driveway is going to end with someone trying to make me look like the criminal. That's not freedom. That's harassment. If you're willing to put another person's life in jeopardy over your own assumptions, you don't need sympathy—you need accountability. Public embarrassment isn't the problem. The behavior is. Stop rewarding it. Stop excusing it. And stop pretending it's just someone's "personality." Leave Black people alone. Mind your business.
