This is me at UCSF, a couple of days after donating my kidney to a stranger.
⁣
She was simply a mother of four (like me) who simply wanted to more life. For reasons God only knows, I was her perfect match.
⁣
Even though I was in ton of pain, and having a hard time getting around for a few weeks- nothing in my lifetime, could have made me happier.⁣
⁣
I am taking these moments to sit in gratitude for what was, and what is. A lady is living and loving because she has my kidney. What a gift for both of us. I’m not sure who received more joy from this experience, her, or I.⁣

Thank you to all of my friends, old and new who’s been there on this journey.⁣
⁣

All set for my #Dialysis Date
It's being several months now. This is my normal routine to visit hospital for my Dialysis twice a week.

First it was shocking & painful for me. I used to curse myself and my stars for troubling me this much. But now, after seeing pains of others, death, trauma, I feel that I am blessed that I am still living a okay life when compared with others. All these months I have learn one thing to ACCEPT the truth and work on that. Accept the problems and work on to get the possible solutions with a positive mindset. Things will be okay soon... Amen!

High's & Low's Part : 2-2 : Dialysis Journey

It has been the hardest challenge for me, and for us as a couple, as the adjustments were quick and staggering to say the least. I've had five failed attempts, and disappointments, of donors not pitching, disappearing, or even messenging me that they are no longer interested in donating, and this, after all tests had already been done. Such a cruel and unfair world we live in.

To say the least, this broke my heart into shattered nothingness, and made me extremely despondent every time it has happened. My legs have become extremely weak, and about a year ago, I was confined to a wheelchair.

However I didn't let this get me down, even though it's so easy to just give up.
I started interacting on my social media platforms, and I received so much encouragement, from all my friends and even strangers, near and far. That has given me a boost. Diaylsis is hard on the body, mind and soul, and you have to be strong, and have a support system, which I never had, only now, a few people are showing support and love, which I am grateful for and appreciate it immensely.

However, all the messages and we'll wishes and prayers I would trade in a heartbeat for a kidney, as I need donor to better my health, and to save my life. Understandably, it's not easy for people to donate an organ to a stranger, or even to a family member for that matter.

With misconceptions and miseducation being a wavering factor in this regard. I try my best to get kidney awareness out there, through any medium possible. Kidney disease has given me strength to do things I never would have done. It has strengthened my marriage even more, and it has shown me how strong I am individually. I'm still waiting for a kidney donor, someone to save my life, my hero is out there but all in time, and God's hands.

Today I'm trying to walk again, my husband has become my physiotherapist, and we regularly exercise my legs. I have a more positive outlook on life, even though covid-19 has stopped all testing for my disease.The world out there should realise that we are still here, and we still need donors to survive and live.

You must know that for patients with Chronic Kidney disease (CKD), there is usually a need to have Renal Replacement Therapy. This could be by dialysis or renal transplantation.

This is a haemodialysis machine, the patient's blood in taken by the machine and filtered of the toxic wastes (similar to the natural function of the kidneys).

Prevent yourself and your loved ones from getting to this stage by following the tips given in my previous posts.
