BIG MAN ON CAMPUS 2026!!🩷🎗️

Last Thursday, Texas Zeta hosted our final philanthropy event for the month of October, Big Man on Campus. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support our community has shown in the fight against breast cancer.

To our amazing BMOC contestants and judges, THANK YOU for pouring your time, energy, and hearts into this cause! Your dedication and enthusiasm have made this experience so special, and we are beyond grateful for the difference you’ve helped us make. Additionally, congratulations to @texasdeltagamma for their representative being crowned as the 2026 Big Man on Campus!👑

An extra special thank you to our incredible Vice President of Philanthropy, @gabrielle.edwards16, and her Philanthropy Team for all the behind-the-scenes work that made this season possible! Your passion, creativity, and countless hours of hard work have not gone unnoticed. Until one in eight becomes none in eight!💗

Looking back on this past weekend (while I’m still in bed) is difficult to wrap my head around. It’s hard to believe this is my last ever SEC Exchange. Over this past weekend, I had the incredible honor of welcoming some of the most influential and amazing people in the nation to MY school and MY home.

Getting the opportunity to serve as the host institution was an experience I’ll never forget. From the late nights, early mornings, lengthy planning, and everything in between, it was worth it to show off somewhere that I believe is so special. I can’t thank every single person and department here at MSU enough for all of the hard work and time they put into making this a success.

“It Just Means More” is a saying we hear all day, every day at Exchange, but I got to see how much more it really meant. Hearing from all my colleagues across the SEC about how much they care about their homes and how much work they are putting into improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of people is surreal. And getting to call all these people friends now is the best icing on the cake.

@milesejordan06 and @kylie_estes_forrester, I can’t thank you enough. You two REALLY put in all the work to make this amazing event happen. I couldn’t have done any of it without you, and I’m forever grateful for both of you!

To the rest of the SEC, thank you for trusting Mississippi State University, and I hope we showed each of you how we really are “Taking Care of What Matters” here in Starkville.

This was one of the greatest and most bittersweet honors of my life so far, and even though it’s my last SEC Exchange, I couldn’t imagine a better way to end it.

Keegan, MW, and I have been talking about this moment since last SEC Exchange, in the car ride home from Austin. How full circle!! And how blessed we are to host our friends from across the SEC! Hail State!

Last night, SafeHorns President Joell McNew and VP Farah Metzger attended the Austin Police Benevolent Foundation’s “I’m With You” event honoring the first responders who responded to the tragic March 1, 2026 shooting in downtown Austin.

The evening highlighted the incredible coordination and bravery shown by law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch, hospital teams, and others who responded that night to protect Austin’s community during an unimaginable situation, including many UT students who were in the area. We are especially grateful for the actions of APD Officers Nicholas LaBarbera, Keston Campbell, and Arthur Markov, whose bravery helped stop the shooter and prevent further loss of life.

The event also honored the three lives lost: Jorge Pederson, Ryder Harrington, and UT student Savitha Shan. Their stories and legacies were remembered beautifully throughout the program. We had the privilege of meeting Savitha’s mother and learning more about the foundation created in Savitha’s honor, and we look forward to sharing ways our community can support its mission.

We were also proud to invite incoming UT Student Government President Keira Dixon and Vice President Jaden Watt, who attended the event and met first responders and community leaders, including Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis. Building connections between student leaders and those dedicated to public safety is incredibly important.

City Council Member Zo Qadri, who represents the UT/West Campus area, also attended the event. Before leaving, we invited him to participate in a future student-focused candidate forum at SafeHorns Place, and he expressed interest. Stay tuned.

Thank you to the Austin Police Benevolent Foundation and Austin Police Association for hosting such a meaningful evening honoring courage, service, and sacrifice. 🤘🧡
