First, I want to thank God for carrying me through the toughest battles of this school year. There were days I felt lost, days I didn’t even know who I was anymore, but God never left my side. He guided me back to myself when I needed Him the most.
The same day I lost interest in the sport I loved was the same day I lost my grandpa — my only real father figure. The man who taught me dedication, character, work ethic, and faith. He always told me that God could place me in rooms that talent alone never could. Before I ever stepped on a track, my grandpa told me I was going to be a track star. I carry those words with me every single day. Grandpa, I know you’re looking down on me smiling, and I know I’m making you proud.
To my grandma, I could write a million words and it still wouldn’t be enough. You are the strongest woman I will ever know. Even after losing so much, you still stayed strong for everybody around you. You took care of Great Grandma Betty every single day until she passed, and you gave me and my brothers a real family when you brought us home from foster care. Without you, I wouldn’t even know what love and sacrifice truly look like.
You’re the reason I kept going on the days I wanted to quit. Rainy days, no practice, late-night workouts — I still got up and worked because I wanted to make you proud. Everything I do is bigger than me, and your love gave me the strength to keep chasing my dreams. I love you more than words can explain, and I promise this is only the beginning.
To my coaches, thank y’all for believing in me, pushing me, and showing me what mental toughness, passion, and real love look like. Y’all helped shape me into the athlete and young man I am today.
After everything… every loss, every struggle, every doubt, every tear… I can finally say it:
I DID IT.
I accomplished the goal I’ve been chasing my entire high school career.
I AM A STATE CHAMPION IN TRACK & FIELD.
STATE CHAMP IN 2 SPORTS, i hope this inspire people to keep going even when it gets hard always keep going an trust in GOD he will lead you in the right path!
