Suffice to say, I can only really have deep, immense gratitude to help bring these stories to life and to audiences. None of this would be possible without the shoulders I stand on. My amazing advisors who believed in me throughout my career and when the idea came to give grants to talented storytellers, they said, "why not?" - @bulldog_shadow, @zeybarahman, @ba1245, @zentronix, @dianexguerrero, @markgonzalesco, @lmnop, @nikasoonshiong, Altaf Rahamatulla, and @mariaannmottola (special thanks to Stanford friend @maia.kazin for getting our ideas on paper).

Going into 2027, we have the bold vision of making five more grants and scaling them from $5k up to $35-50k. Ambitious, bold, yes, but everything seems impossible until it's done. We will need institutional partners and others to help us get there, so if you know anyone who wants to support this work, send them my way!

To see the films and learn about more about our fifth grant, read my LinkedIn article at the link in bio.

Introducing the #NashFilm57 Episodic Shorts Official Selections.

BANANA (dir. Raghav Puri, Kieran Barry)

Sat, Sep 26th, 1:00 PM @ Regal Green Hills Theater 4

Dizzy, a fiercely unsuccessful mukbang YouTuber, is determined to make a living doing the one thing she truly loves: eating. Her family, who mostly loves her, thinks she should get a real job. When she wakes up to find one of her videos has gone mini-viral, she realizes there is a cost to turning her culture into content. As she struggles with what it means to be Korean in America today, she’s confronted by hard-hitting questions like: “Who has the right to profit off Korean culture?,” “Wait, kimchi is cool now?,” and “Is my grandma flirting with my boyfriend?!”

DADDIES BOI (dir. Jason Avezzano)

Sat, Sep 26th, 1:00 PM @ Regal Green Hills Theater 4

Daddies Boi is a queer dark comedy about ride-or-die best friends, Ozzie (they/them) and Billie (she/her), pushing 35 but still claiming 28, desperately clinging to relevance in a city that worships youth. When Ozzie’s longtime sugar daddy, Clarke, dumps them on their “28th” birthday for a younger model, and Billie’s debt soars to new heights, the duo dives headfirst into LA’s unconventional gig market of sex work and companionship services. Armed with multiple sugaring profiles, shifty side hustles, and unhinged dates, they set their sights on a seductive new app called Daddies Boi that promises fast cash and fresh opportunities. What begins as survival spirals into a sharp, funny, and emotionally raw odyssey of empowerment and peril, testing their friendship, identity, and self-worth.

IN MY BLOOD (dir. Alex Bendo)

Sat, Sep 26th, 1:00 PM @ Regal Green Hills Theater 4

Desperate to live up to his father’s expectations, a talented but inconsistent minor league baseball player turns to steroids, igniting a dangerous transformation of body and mind.

MONES (dir. Zackary Drucker)

Sat, Sep 26th, 1:00 PM @ Regal Green Hills Theater 4

Cici, a trans woman, confronts her gender dysphoria at her younger brother Teddy’s fraternity during a historic Pride party and drag show she organized with her best friends. As drag performers, frat boys, and queer students min
