I couldn’t have wished for a better program or coaching staff. Thank you Coach Thune, Coach Jae, & Coach Mia for believing in me and letting me be apart of Seawolf nation. I would also like to thank every single coach who has put effort into me and leading me to the position I’m in now. I’m forever blessed, and can’t wait to be a seawolf. #skoseawolves

Before the season started, some of the Bartlett squad came into the Prospect studio for preseason interviews. Mia ‘Uhila was there too — UAA assistant coach, former Golden Bear, and a key piece of the 2021 team that ended 43 years of waiting for a championship. Stored away in the studio was a basketball signed by ‘Uhila and her championship teammates. Two generations of Bartlett basketball crossing paths in the same room. It was something to witness.
Kennedi Gaines was in that room. Today she plays for a state title.
In her interview, Gaines spoke about the Bartlett mentality — college level standards, getting through mental battles, and a coach who is in the gym around the clock making sure his players are set up to reach their goals. When coach Darian Lawson needed his team most last year, they showed up. The bond of the team is very apparent.

UAA locks down the in-state matchup.
Elaina Mack led with 21 and Mahaila Harrison dominated the glass for a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double as the Seawolves pulled away in a 76-41 win over UAF.
Mylee Anderson added 11 points and 9 assists in one of her strongest freshman showings yet.
Fairbanks saw fight from Tamai Mancuso with 13 off the bench and Jazlynn Novelli with 12 and 10 on the boards, but UAA’s depth and defensive pressure cracked things open in the second quarter.
Seawolves improve to 10-4 and head back on the road next week in GNAC play.

Return of the Mack.

UAA team captain Elaina Mack spent her whole college career under one staff.
Now she’s leading with another.
Same mission. Winning basketball games.

Fast pace. Same pride.
