“(Don’t) look at me” By Ulana Sustainable denim capsule collection titled “(Don’t) Look at Me” delves deep into the inner conflicts and contradictions faced by artists. At the heart of this exploration is the tension between the desire for privacy and the inherent need for recognition. As artists, we often find ourselves longing for solitude, a space where creativity can flourish free from external judgment. There is a comfort in creating art that remains unseen, where the process itself is the focus rather than the outcome. Yet, beneath this desire lies a fundamental question: does art only reach its true potential when it is perceived by others? Can we truly feel fulfilled if our work goes unnoticed, or does the act of being seen give it life and meaning? This paradox is woven throughout the collection, which uses dark, muted tones to represent the desire to remain unnoticed, to hide within the shadows. These darker hues create a sense of anonymity, allowing the wearer to blend into their surroundings, embodying the artist’s wish to avoid scrutiny. However, the contrasting bright details serve as a visual metaphor for the inevitable need for recognition. More imagery to come.
