For over fifteen years, Michail Stangl, better known as Opium Hum, has occupied a singular position at the crossroads of underground club culture, experimental electronics and global bass music.

Former lead programmer and one of the defining faces of Boiler Room, as well as curator of Berlin’s legendary CTM Festival, his work has consistently pushed the outer limits of contemporary electronic music. Through Hyper Real, Leisure System, and countless projects across the globe, he’s championed artists and sounds that exist well outside the algorithm.

His DJ sets move fluidly between bass-heavy club constructions, off-kilter rave mutations, acidy steppers, industrialised grime and driving techno, an eclectic but never scattershot approach shaped by an insatiable appetite for the emergent forms constantly bubbling up from the fringes of global rave culture.
