the WHO, WHAT, WHY, HOW of Gray for Glioblastoma (GFG)! it’s been a while since we shared the who, what, why, how so we thought we would do so! gray for glioblastoma is a 501 (c) 3 founded by 23 year old @katesnedekerr in honor of her late father, to raise awareness for and funds to support Glioblastoma Multiforme research by accepting donations and donating to cancer care and research facilities.we accomplish this while simultaneously creating a hopeful and positive space and providing resources and a space of community through our social media and events. learn more about us here!

2024 was the worst year of my life...

Oct - Dec 2023 was the actual WORST, but as far as full calendar years go, 2024 takes the cake. The first full year without Josh.

I don't believe that everything happens for a reason (because surely there was no good reason to lose my brother)—but I think I do believe that you can use the things that happen for a reason.

This year, we did some pretty cool stuff that I believe honors Josh's life and memory—and gosh darn it, that deserves a shout out:

• We raised awareness for Brain Tumor Awareness Month
• We raised over $2,000 for brain cancer research with the Go Grey in May GBM 5K
• We cheered for our girl, DCC Anna Kate, as she brought Glioblastoma Awareness to the worldwide stage (with Lucchese and DCC's #MyCauseMyBoots campaign)
• We supported businesses who support brain cancer research

The impact of all that? Through the Glioblastoma Research Organization alone, we helped raise over 1 million dollars. These funds can lead to new developments in brain cancer research and treatment options—literally life changing for those fighting GBM.

Lastly, we learned about grief. No one talks about grief which is why it can feel so lonely. So allow me to scream about it: I found support through instagram accounts, podcasts, books, therapy, and more. I even got to connect with other women experiencing the loss of a sibling. Many of you supported me too. For that, I am eternally grateful.

To all of you who were a part of any of the above—THANK YOU. Whether you donated to the fundraisers, learned about Glioblastoma, witnessed and supported me and my family in grief, or did something to honor Josh this year—from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

So that was 2024. It was painful and difficult and I'm glad it's over, but I think we did some good. Josh may not have been here for it in person, but boy was he with us the whole way. Here's to hoping 2025 is better, even just by a little bit 🥂

TODAY IS GIVING TUESDAY! support gray for glioblastoma by sharing our social media, sharing our resources with those that need them, following, starting a fundraiser, donating, volunteering, wearing your gray and more! did you know that glioblastoma, a fast growing and aggressive brain tumor, is the LEADING cause of cancer death in children and the 10th in adults? despite these statistics, in 2022, only 3% of all cancer funds went to brain and central nervous center cancers. Clearly, this needs to change. Similarly, although being first identified in the early 1900s, there have been minimal advances in treatments and average prognosis as the average survival rates for glioblastoma patients remain between 14-16 months with only an average of 25% of patients surviving over a year, underscoring the urgent need for innovative treatments and therapies. gray for glioblastoma has donated over $200,000 since march 2023 to support GBM research projects at renowned cancer centers including Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital LA/Saban Research Institute and The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. help us raise much needed awareness and funding for brain cancer research!
