The Pembroke Welsh Corgi originated in Pembrokeshire, Wales, around 1107 AD. Its key historical milestones include introduction by Flemish weavers, development as a cattle-herding dog, and popularization by British royalty. Believed to be descendants of Spitz-type dogs that were brought to Wales by Flemish weavers; invited by King Henry I. Alternative theories suggest ancestry from Swedish Vallhunds brought by Vikings in the 9th and 10th centuries. Their low stature allowed them to nip at cattle heels while safely ducking to avoid kicks. First shown in the 1920s under the The Kennel Club where Pembroke and Cardigan types were judged together, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi was recognized as a distinct separate breed from the Cardigan Welsh Corgi in 1934 and was imported to the United States the same year. Pembroke Welsh Corgis gained global fame largely because Queen Elizabeth II owned more than 30 Pembroke Welsh Corgis throughout her life, starting when she was gifted Dookie in 1933 by her father.

Kim and Chad (and Penny 🐶) ushered in spring with their engagement session amongst the cherry blossoms 🌸 We have been planning their session for quite some time and were thrilled at the perfect timing of the blooms! These two share such a sweetness and ease in their relationship that was just a joy to capture 🤍 Cannot wait for the wedding day!
