When I made the decision to tackle the mammoth 200 mile ultramarathon, I knew a solid strength plan would be required to avoid injury and keep me going on the multiple climbs I would be facing during the race.

I reached out to my friend Kimble Jensen from Live Fit Systems. We have known each other for years, and he has been my trainer for other adventures.

Kimble set me up with a 3-4 session a week plan focusing on what I would need to complete the mammoth. During the course of training I gave him feedback and he made adjustments as needed.

The result? 214 miles completed. The only injury? I very minor case of tendinitis in my big toe. Otherwise I’m in perfect post race shape.

Additionally, Kimble came out to the Sierras with his brother, he paced me over 70 miles and kept me moving when I didn’t want to.

Regardless of your goal, I can’t recommend Live Fit Systems enough. Personalized, goal and life oriented training by someone who walks the walk.

We are all still riding all the emotions of the past week. I am so thankful to Christian and Amanda for taking on this adventure and allowing the Gratitude and Grace Foundation to be a part of the journey.

Thank you to everyone who helped support Christian along the way. All together you raised just under $4000 to help transplant recipients and their families. Truly making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

215 miles. Simply amazing.

Thank you 🙏

The course
Starting in the mountain life dreamscape that is Mammoth Village we headed directly up to the summit of Mammoth Mountain.

From there we would see the entire course. High Desert. Jeffrie Pine Forest. Mountain lake after mountain lake. Lush greenscape to barren craters straight out of sci-fi films.

The views literally never stopped.

There is a downside to a multi-day race in this environment…eventually the sun sets and you keep going, wonder what spectacular scenes you are missing.

This Eastern Sierra is a magical place. Each view is like a painting. I can’t picture a better setting for a mammoth adventure.

These five people gave up so much for my mammoth dream to become reality.

Amanda organizing literally everything so I could focus on the race. Being at every aid station. Not sleeping. The leader of the behind the scenes three ring circus. My calm in the storm, my medic, my focus in the madness. I’m sure there are moments you wish your husband would just play golf. Sorry, but hey, we get to have big adventures so there’s that. Thank you for allowing me to live the crazy, and making it better.

Kelly The wizard behind the curtain. Using his knowledge of the game, and the player, to get the finish. Our time together on trails means the world to me, and the hours we spent together this go around topped them all. Everyone should get a friend that inspires them, pushes them, and pisses them off. Thank you for being that friend always.

if there is one person who keeps the wheels in motion it’s Jamie. There is no one better at seeing the hole in a plan and filling the void regardless of what it is. It’s true it takes a village, but the village needs someone like you. Thank you for the gourmet breakfasts. Seriously the best food I had the entire time.

Kimble, your knowledge, kind nature and calm were so instrumental in this success. No one stepped up filling the gap like you did. 70 freaking miles of slogging. Having the insight to know when to chat, when to push and when to remind me why I was out there. Your understanding of the psychology of sport was on full display. It was such an honor to have you on this team. Thank you for your willingness to get in the ring.

Zac you were the wild card in this operation. Not knowing you before hand was a risk, but your references checked out. I truly enjoyed the miles we shared, even the extremely bad ones. As a first time pacer, you listened to the instructions, executed them with precision and got the job done. Getting to walk on the moon with you was an honor. I hope we didn’t scare you off ultras forever, they aren’t all that hard I swear.

That was a good climb!! Christian continues to crush it. Good spirits. Body is holding up well. Though I am disappointed in his hallucination game thus far. They have been pretty boring
