“Ethical communication begins with a simple commitment: tell the truth, honor the audience and earn the trust.” - Kimberly Devitt Brown, APR, 2026 PRSA Orlando Ethics Officer

As @prsanational Ethics Month comes to close, remember to continuously reflect on the values that guide our profession and the trust our work depends on.

Ethical communication shows up in everyday decisions: verifying information, being transparent with audiences, protecting confidential information and providing honest counsel, even when the conversation is difficult.

Visit prsa.org/ethics for resources and to review the PRSA Code of Ethics.

📍 Calvary Orlando | 1199 Clay St., Winter Park

I’ll be there and would LOVE to see some familiar faces! Come hungry, bring the whole family and slide into my DMs if you want more information or want to get involved. Who would you like to see at the festival? Tag them below! 💛🎶🌮

This morning was @prsa_orlando’s first Past Presidents Coffee Meetup, and it was one of those mornings that reminded me just how special this community is. 💙

There are very few people who can get me out of the house before my kids even leave for school, but this group absolutely can.

For nearly two decades, PRSA Orlando has been one of the great constants in my professional life. These are the people who have challenged me, encouraged me, opened doors, answered the phone, shared advice, celebrated the wins and helped shape the leader I’ve become.

And now I get the joy of watching them continue to do incredible things long after their presidential terms are over. New roles, new ventures, new ways of serving, mentoring and making an impact. I am so proud of them, and still a little in awe that I get to sit at the same table.

So many wonderful past presidents aren’t pictured, but the heart of this group is the same: stay connected, keep giving back and keep cheering one another on.

My cup was very full after this one. ☕️✨

And if you’re feeling a little FOMO, PRSA Orlando would love to have you. Learn more: www.prsaorlando.org. 🫶✨

Today, I was honored to attend @cannonballkidscancer Ripple Effect Luncheon, where cancer survivor Emily McDowell @emilyonlife of @emandfriends gave the keynote.

She said something that I haven’t stopped thinking about all day:

“I don’t believe everything happens for a reason. I believe things happen to people and we decide how that matters to our lives.”

How often are we told “everything happens for a reason” as a way of justifying pain & hurt.

The distinction she shared in her beautiful speech is that we don’t have to believe that every hard thing happened for a reason in order to create meaning from it.

We get to decide what we carry forward.
What we change.
What we build.
How we show up for someone else.
And what we allow an experience to mean in the story of our lives.

Maybe meaning isn’t always something we find. Sometimes, it’s something we create. 🩷

Grateful for an afternoon surrounded by people who are making extraordinary ripples and all to fund tangible, real research that is actually changing how we treat pediatric cancer patients! 🙌

I had the most wonderful Birthday brunch yesterday at @sixtyvines!

Big thanks Lee Ann for coordinating and decorating, and to Trinity, Sara, Kimberly, Kaia, Jen, Rachelle, Dani, Alyssa and Melissa for coming out to celebrate!

To every woman reading this, my best advice is this: surround yourself with incredible women who lift you up, tell you the truth, cheer you on, and show up without being asked. My tribe has shown up for me in ways I’ll spend a lifetime being grateful for. You all know who you are!

I am incredibly lucky to have these incredible women in my life! ❤️

Friday night, what I thought was going to be our usual monthly happy hour at @harpandcelt turned into a surprise early birthday celebration, and I loved every minute of it!

For years, our group met there every Friday. Life got busier, and now we gather once a month when we can. So when I walked in expecting a normal happy hour and kept seeing more and more familiar faces arrive, I was genuinely touched.

One of the many things Jim has taught me over our 23 years together is the importance of friendships. Not just having them, but nurturing them and making time for them, even when life gets busy.

Looking around the room Friday night, I was reminded of just how fortunate I am. So many of the people there have been part of my life for years. Some I’ve known for decades. Some are newer friendships that have become incredibly meaningful. Every single person has added something special to my life, and having so many of them together in one room was a gift I won’t soon forget.

A special thank you to my sweet Jim for putting it all together, and for reviving my sophomore-year high school photo from New Jersey. Based on the evidence, I apparently skipped right over being 15 and went straight to looking like a very serious 30-year-old with an impressive amount of teenage angst—not to mention the giant hair that probably single-handedly depleted the ozone layer thanks to a generous amount of Aqua Net!

And thank you to @tikibarbara for the delicious cannoli cream cake! Lighting 50 candles on one cake felt less like a birthday tradition and more like a small public safety exercise. Thankfully, no fire sprinklers were activated, no firefighters were called, and everyone still got cake.

My 40s were truly amazing. So if my 50s are going to be anything like my 40s, then I am going to be in for a pretty fantastic decade ahead.

A big thank you to everyone who came out, to Kathy and her wonderful team at the Harp and Celt for another great night, and especially to sweet Jim for making me feel so loved and celebrated.

Last night was such a wonderful reminder that, at the end of the day, life is really about the people we share it with. ❤️
