42ND STREET | KIM’S ACADEMY OF DANCE | 2026

This one holds SO many thoughts, feelings, and emotions 🥹 I learned this original Broadway choreography when I was a senior in high school for my senior year recital. When we were discussing what we wanted our show opener to be this year, it felt natural to bring this one back, as our recital theme was “Bright Lights, Big City,” and NYC is THE city you think of when you hear this phrase. Big Broadway Spectacle was the goal, and these kids absolutely nailed it. This one took a LOT of time, cleaning, and reviewing to ensure they were putting out Broadway-quality tap on the stage and I am SO proud of them. This number pushed all of them in rhythm, timing, and tap steps, and I could not be more thrilled with the end result. ⭐️

(PSA: yes, there’s a chunk of original choreo we did not do; yes I almost added it; no it was not worth my sanity to figure out the huge layered choreo section for a dance recital 🤣🫠)

Year 15/15✅✅

Hard to believe that after 15 years of dancing, this past weekend would be the last time sharing the stage with all my girls. It’s definitely bittersweet saying bye to this era of my life, but I’m feeling so much gratitude for the friends, memories and mentors @kimsdancepeoria has given me❤️❤️

thank you for eternity @kimsdancepeoria for being my home away from home, whether it was five minutes up the road from my house or 30 minutes across the river! when things got hard at school, home, or dancing at other places, i knew i could go to class and leave feeling wanted and important, but most of all, loved! the past 12 years of my life have been extremely positive in terms of my mindset all thanks to this studio and the environment its curated for me and my class mates.

i would like to thank my teachers and miss kim for challenging me and giving me the opportunities to learn and excel in the art of dance! furthermore, the pieces that you put on stage every year are phenomenal and allow me to be free and express my emotions wholeheartedly.

i would also like to thank my classmates, no matter if you’re in peoria or washington or maybe a little bit of both (hi em!!). you guys are some of my bestest friends and i love every single one of you to death! i do have to give a special shoutout to the peoria girls for making me and my friends feel so welcome when we made the decision to start to come to peoria more! i met some soulmates out there all thanks to you guys and i love you tuesday!

lastly, i would like to thank my parents and sisters for taking me to class and hyping me up when i needed it. cece and emjit, thanks for always watching old recitals and laughing with me and at me!
