Some moments you just have to stop and take in. 🙏🏾

I had the honor of standing with His Imperial Highness Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie, grandson of Emperor Haile Selassie, and Adam Clayton Powell IV, son of Congressman Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr., at @abyssinianbc.

Adam let us hold the medallion the Emperor gave his father. To hold that piece of history together, two families and two legacies, is something I’ll never forget.

History isn’t behind us. It walks with us.

Swipe through for the full day. ➡️

Some stands cost you everything. Some rooms receive you anyway. @kaepernick7 at Abyssinian. Swipe. 🖤

✨🩵 Spelman Lane Legacy
- - - - - - - - - - -
Guess who we found at the intersection of Spelman Lane and Legacy Boulevard?

Our very own Kimya Johnson, Esq., C’96, and her daughters, Laila, C’2027 and Lena, C‘2029. 🩵✨

And just like that… the legacy continues.

There’s something so special about seeing the Spelman journey come full circle—mothers and daughters walking the same path and carrying forward a tradition of excellence, sisterhood, and purpose.

To our Class of ’96 sisters whose daughters are part of the Spelman story—we celebrate you. 🩵✨

✨ SISTERHOOD SPOTLIGHT
- - - - - - - - - - -
Class of ’96, today we celebrate a sister whose leadership, brilliance, and service continue to create meaningful impact across the legal, corporate, and faith communities. 🩵

Join us in honoring our classmate, Kimya S.P. Johnson, J.D., M.Ed. (C’96) — an accomplished attorney, award-winning C-suite leader, and the First Lady of the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church.

As a practicing employment lawyer for more than 22 years, Kimya has dedicated her career to building systems, policies, and workplace cultures that create opportunities for people to thrive. Most recently, she served in the C-suite of an AmLaw 100 law firm, leading strategic efforts focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, employee engagement, and positive people-centered culture.

Through every role she holds, Kimya leads with purpose, excellence, and grace—reflecting the very values instilled in us at Spelman.

3️⃣0️⃣ years ago, while Atlanta welcomed the world for the Olympics, we were walking the campus of Spelman preparing to lead in spaces that would shape communities and create change. Today, Kimya continues to do exactly that. 🩵✨

Kimya, we celebrate your brilliance, your leadership, and the incredible legacy you continue to build. You are the embodiment of Spelman excellence.

Class of ’96 sisters — let’s show Kimya some love in the comments! 🩵✨
