🌻Stopped going to the gym and doing high intensity movement

…My yoga practice is with a block and bolster. I surrender into soft restorative poses, and my whole nervous system is singing with joy and gratitude for the complete rest and reset. Instead of spiking in adrenaline and moving 100mph, my body is able to operate from a state of peace rather than trying to keep up with my fast paced way of living. When we’re living in EASE we reduce the likelihood of DISEASE. Diseases arise as alarm bells to speak to us when we’ve been too busy to listen and tune into our body on a deeper level. My body has gained fat, is less toned and I feel more feminine. Maybe one day I’ll put my running shoes on but for now I just have zero desire.

🌻Stopped making to-do lists and filling my diary with appointments.

…Instead I trust that I know what needs to be done, and I will always show up. I’m no longer in a rush or haste to tend to the task as if I’m running out of time. It always gets done. I’ve never failed myself before so why do I feel the need to be in CONTROL of myself so much… I let go.

🌻Stopped setting alarms on days there’s no particular need to be up at a certain time.

…When I can, I let my body rest for the time it takes. Another release of control instead of living like I’m in the army.

🌻Stopped filling a void with surrogate activities

I used to fill any spare time with ‘doing’ even if it was a planned relaxing activity, constantly filling a void. Ramadan taught me the comfort and contentment that can be found in surrendering to the stillness. It’s soo refuelling to pause when you need to pause, and not filling this pause on your phone (more energy draining‼️)

🌻Stopped planning too far ahead of time

…Let life happen in flooooow, let whatever needs to come to you, come to you. It can only reach you if you’re not full to the brim with all the to-dos you’ve given yourself to do. Trust that when you see to your energy first, and work on aligning yourself energetically to be at peace, in gratitude and in joy, greatness will flow towards you effortlessly.

And now I live a life filled with much more peace. My nervous system can breathe.

I’ve spent 30 years running, moving quickly busy busy, doing, not even knowing what I was running from. Now I choose to sit still, to face the darkness and the programmes that have been running me, to sit in the anxiety and discomfort. No more running, as I sit and observe the world moving quickly, I choose to pause 🤍

Happy new moon 🌙
Happy new year 🐍

This year is off to a sloooow start and I like it 🙏

This is it. In the air we breathe, in the state of sheer bliss, emptiness yet wholeness! This is life. It’s in the commute, it’s in the working day, it’s in the supermarket encounters, it’s in human to human interactions. It’s in both the suffering and the joy. This is it. When you see and feel this you realise there is nowhere else you need to look for it. Not in Bali. Not through
ayahuasca, not in your yoga class. Just here. Although these can be great shortcuts and passage ways to what’s already within you.

It’s the suffering. Pain. Love. Light. All of it! This is it. This is life.

Hosting retreats, continues to teach me the beauty of surrender.

I am shown that you can plan soo much in preparation and try to control the fine details to make it the best experience possible but then from the opening of the retreat I am taught to surrender to ‘what is’ and hand over the control to ‘what could be’. From there, I find myself in a place to welcome so much beauty in that I alone could not have created, and can feel the inspiration come flooding in from others and my surroundings.

There is so much beauty to be had and felt in the act of surrender. A complete unraveling of control and an opening to what is. The art of letting go.
