What is happening in the small town of Tosola?

The community garden has been ransacked, flowers are turning to stone...

Time to investigate!

Join game designers Karl Kim & Julie Puech for a fun interactive storytime playing the first chapter of their new narrative game, The Mysteries of Tosola.

With The Mysteries of Tosola, kids will embark on an investigation in a fantasy world inspired by the nature of the Pacific Northwest.

They will learn about native flowers, mushroom identification, and experience a unique cross-media story told with cards, comics and augmented reality.

THE EVENT:

🗓️ Saturday Oct 24, 1pm - 2pm

📍Kinder Books (@kinderbooks2), 810 Quayside Drive, New Westminster

Recommended for kids ages 7 to 11.

$5 per child (includes a $5 Kinder Books giftcard), non-refundable and non-transferable

A whirlwind weekend to celebrate A Perfect Word to Gift the Moon landing on bookshelves this week 🌙 @kat_cearns

We read and presented at a school; visited @blackbondbooks @vankidsbooks and @kinderbooks2 to sign, share, and connect with readers; and made some time for art and celebration in between!

We are so grateful for the incredible support from family, friends, and the bookish community who are buying and sharing A Perfect Word to Gift the Moon. You are making this debut author and illustrator duo feel very proud and lucky ✨

Up next this month: we’re excited to see you at @shop.totallybookish in Abbotsford on Saturday, October 17, and @windowseatbooks in Nanaimo on Saturday, October 24! @heritagehousepublishing

This year’s New West Culture Crawl was a wonderful success.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to @kinderbooks2 for a special reading of My Little Thief, written by Augusten Burroughs and illustrated by Bonnie Lui, followed by my hands on crow collage art workshop.

It was so much fun watching everyone cut, tear, and layer their own own unique crows. Although the prompt was simply a crow (a little black bird) no two collages were alike. Each one had its own personality and style, with artists even adding their own creative details and touches.

A big thank you as well to Arts New West and Cultural Crawl New West for supporting this event, and to everyone who came out and joined in the creative fun. It was a truly caaaw-some afternoon.

I am excited to be taking part once again in this year’s New West Culture Crawl, where I will be hosting a fun, hands-on crow collage art workshop at @kinderbooks2 on October 4th.

Come join me for a creative afternoon as we make our own unique collages. Using a mix of papers, fabrics, and found materials, we will cut, tear, layer, and glue our way to some wonderfully unique crow art…or any of the crows, ravens or rooks of the Corvid family, for all you naturalists out there. Whether you are a seasoned artist or simply looking to try something new, everyone is welcome to join in the fun

Bring your imagination and join me for some Caaaw-Caaaw-Cultural Crawl creativity. I can’t wait to see what you create.

And that’s not all. Artist June Hunter, whose Crows & Ravens photography exhibition will be on display at Kinder Books throughout October, will also be there for a special Meet-the-Artist opportunity.

📍 Where: Kinder Books, New West River Market

📅 When: Sunday, October 4th

✂️ Art Workshop: 1 PM

📸 Meet-the-Artist: 11 AM – 4 PM

Bilingual story time today was so much fun! Kids were engaged in storytime actions. Thank you @kinderbooks2 for hosting this special Mid-autumn Festival storytime and crafts!

Kids got to pick different water colour lantern paper and add their own creativity to it! The lantern is inspired by the nursery rhyme 月亮走，我也走（ When the moon walk, I also walk) and the greeting 花好月圓 (Blooming flowers and full moon signifying good fortune and reunion)

Are you celebrating the Mid-autumn festival next week? Please share how you are celebrating with me!
