Long Post but Worth Reading😁

It was on this day that I stood up and made a decision to change my life. I chose to do a full 180 and walk away from who I used to be. I decided that God was my Lord and Savior because nothing I was doing was truly making me happy.

I smiled. I laughed. I drank. I partied hard. I was the life of the party. I was having what some people would call a good time. But underneath all of that, I still was not happy. Something always felt missing.

Every Friday was my day. That was my routine. Even after God healed me from a brain tumor, as soon as I was able, I went right back to that same Friday lifestyle.

In January 2024, my church started the Daniel Fast. I knew food would not really be a sacrifice for me, so I decided to abstain from sex. That was a real sacrifice for me. I called my boo and told him what was about to happen. He was confused about where he stood, but he was impressed that I was willing to make a sacrifice like that.

When the fast started, I will be honest, it was not easy. What I did not realize was that while God was working on me, He was also doing something new in my daughter. She was watching me pray. Watching me change my music. Watching me change my Friday routine. And God was changing her heart.

The Sunday the fast ended, my daughter stood up on her own and gave her life to God. As a teenager. No pushing. No forcing. She wanted to be baptized. In that moment, God showed me that I was strong enough to walk with Him and let go of my selfish ways. He showed me that I was needed in the kingdom, but more than that, my kids needed me.

The following Sunday, I stood up and gave my life to God.

Every void I had, every hole I tried to fill with temporary things, was instantly filled. Not fleeting happiness, but true joy. Real joy.

If you see yourself even a little bit in this story, God is calling you. You are loved. You are needed. There are so many people going through the motions, feeling lost, trying to fill voids that only God can fill.

I say give Him a try.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬ ‭NLT‬‬
