Meet Laurel and Segun - both share their unique experiences with blood donation and sickle cell disease in The Lifeline Conversations.

We often think about donating blood when it directly affects our lives—a loved one in need, a family member, or a friend. But what if hearing the stories of strangers—people we’ve never met—could inspire us just as deeply?

On the March 21st, we’re bringing together storytelling, community, and important conversations at Kindred (W6 9BW).

Meet Dee, Segun, and Laurel. In this conversation, they speak with blood donor, Victor, about how blood transfusions and exchanges have impacted their lives while living with sickle cell disease.
A @nuviefilms_uk production.

The Lifeline Conversations is designed to amplify awareness and education for blood donation for the new generation. This programme is a resource for educators and communities to inspire potential blood donors, with a particular focus on black young adults.

A couple of weeks ago, we hosted our games night, organised by the amazing team at UGotGame. People played games, enjoyed delicious food, and had the opportunity to listen to a panel of speakers discuss their experiences with dating and marriage while living with sickle cell disease, as well as other challenges they face. We want to extend our gratitude to everyone who attended, especially the incredible speakers who were open and vulnerable in order to educate others and provide insight into the realities faced by those living with sickle cell.

A big thank you to NHS Blood and Transplant for coming out and signing over 20 people up to become blood donors.

We appreciate you all and hope that people will continue learning about sickle cell, discussing it, checking their genotype, and donating blood.
