Wow! 30 years ago, Reasonable Doubt dropped in 1996—the same year I was a senior, and still one of my favorite years of my life. So, when Jay-Z headlined the Roots Picnic in honor of its 30th anniversary, there was no way I was missing it. I knew my sis was going to say we had to go!

From Old City on Friday night to a weekend full of music, memories, and miles of walking around the festival grounds, this trip was everything. 🎶❤️ Philly, you were good to us.

So, I share this speacial day with someone, my twin. Having a twin is like being born with a guaranteed best friend. 💕
Someone who knows your moods, she even knows my dark humor that no one ever thought I would have🤣

For a long time, I only saw myself through her.
We did everything together. If she wasn’t there, I didn’t want to go. But as we’ve grown, I’ve learned that the revolution of self is necessary — even when you share a womb. One of my favorite pictures is of my mom pregnant with us. Her foxylady necklace, and brown leather jacket is so 70’s🤣

My twin is bold, funny, and lights up every room she walks in.
I’m soft, sweet, quiet— the observer. Yet when we’re together, something magical happens. I laugh louder. I loosen up. She reminds me that life is meant to be lived.

That’s the twin journey — it’s fun, messy, emotional, and divine all at once. And now, I’m learning to show that side of me too… the soft, playful, full version of who I am. Having a twin is like you imagine it when you say “I wish I had a twin”.

Here’s to us.
The twins.
The women we’ve become.
The wholeness we’re stepping into — separately and together. ♏️🦂💝

My other half, my day one, my mirror. 💕
Watching you start to pour into yourself— choosing joy again and I’m so proud.

We grew up laughing until our stomachs hurt. Acting silly. Dreaming big. Those memories are treasures to me. One thing my good sis was gonna do is eat a subway sandwich.

I’m so proud to be your twin. I pray this year brings you everything your heart desires and more — peace, love, and a deeper knowing that everything you’re looking for is already within you. On the gang, it’s Scorpio season! Show em how we do. Toast to 48 years! May this be your best one yet🤣🎂🥰🥳🥂♏️

Life lately…

I’m learning that I don’t need to look perfect to be beautiful. I didn’t want to post pictures because they weren’t perfect and I had to free myself. Woosah…

I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to be perfect because I didn’t believe I was enough just as I am.

Preparing for my trip to NYC taught me this in the most unexpected ways…

I planned outfits for my trip and almost nothing fit right, it was too big, too tight, or not giving. My hair didn’t do what I wanted, like I got a rod set that didn’t even last 24 hours😂

Nothing came together as imagined and honestly? It made me sit with some hard truths.

There’s a version of me that’s spent a long time trying to compensate for not being thin — by being polished. Perfect. “Put together.”

But healing won’t let me hide like that anymore.
I’m being stretched in how I see myself. And embracing myself as I am made me feel better than perfect, it made me feel whole.

This weekend I hosted the children’s story time event at Black Books Matter fest helping highlight Black authors, doing something new but that still felt so natural. It reminded me that I don’t need to look the part to be walking in purpose. I already am.

It’s been humbling. But it’s also been needed.

Sadies and me decided to go to the Roots Picnic for the first time. It’s was so bad on Saturday that we almost didn’t return on Sunday. Despite the mess of Saturday the experience was wonderful. I finally got to see Musiq Soulchild, screamed when No Malice came out, was sad not seeing Jaged Edge but was so proud how my DC folk supported Backyards. For me Kaytranada stole the show. Everyone was dancing and having fun. Philly pleasantly surprised me. I can’t wait until next year. #RootsPicnic #SoulMusic #WhatTheHelly #Philly

My grandmother always took pictures. She collected photo albums. So I started to do that too. My family knows I’m going to always take pictures because memories are the only thing we have when our time is up. I pray you make great memories now and in the new year. Create the life you imagined! Here are some sights and sounds from my blessed time with family. #MerryPinkmas #TheLifeYouImagineYouCanCreate #SpreadLoveItsTheBrooklynWay #Twinning

Holidays are a special time to spend with family. I went through a phase of needing to be alone. I was burnt out with holiday travel. After my grandparents passing I got this new zest for life. Wanting to spend my days intentionally with people who love and care for me. I didn’t want to be alone and I’m grateful I didn’t. Highlights from a blessed holiday vacation with my family. #SoulHoliday #Family #CanYouGuessMyFavoriteColor #bryantparkwintervillage #musuemoficecream

One of the my favorite times of my life was my senior year in High School. So many great memories. Anywhere you seen me you seen my twin @kingbenzy and @prettynround. The first picture is me at prom. I wish I would have taken more pictures that night. 1996, a wonderful year❤️ #Classof1996 #DelCityHighSchool #EaglePride #90sGirl #ThrowbackThursday
