📍 FNT x JAX in its 3rd year sent 16 Jax delegates experienced oral histories/historic site visits and implemented a “festival pivot”, due to force majeure, in brick + mortar businesses in the Carriage Town Historic neighborhood.

What is FNT x JAX? A collective of independent artists from two U.S. cities—Flint, MI and Jacksonville, FL—working to grow and energize downtowns through art. Together, they produce markets, festivals, concerts, classes, and curated dining experiences. The overall goal of this initiative is to foster meaningful collaboration by connecting cultural leaders across geographies. Through travel and exchange, participants:

✅Share ideas and innovation
✅Build long-term partnerships
✅Enhance placemaking efforts
✅Celebrate community and culture
✅Shift traditional media storytelling which often neglects the narrative of cultural movements

This curated cultural exchange continues to build and strengthen a bridge between the two cities, centered around five key areas: Music, Tastemaking, Storytelling/film, Photography, Visual Art, Fashion, Street Art, Creative Entrepreneurship, and Placemaking. Currently, 62 Culture Bearers are directly involved in the exchange.

One of my favorite FNT x JAX exchanges yet.

The opportunity to connect with so many incredible people in Flint was the highlight of this trip. We had to make a major pivot because of the wildfire smoke from Canada, but when you're fire, you don't let a little smoke stop you. 🔥

We adapted, built community, and were reminded that placemaking is ultimately about people.
