POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today my father was put to rest today and I couldn’t physically be there which hurts but what I can do is remind you all the we witnessed a legend walk his time on this earth. A man who saw potential in people that they did not see in themselves or knew they existed. I still remember the first day we met, I was told not to mention anything about my music but to only talk about my videography and video editing prior to entering your office. When we started talking you noticed something was off then you threw me this question, if you were woken from your sleep with a gun pointed to your head and you were asked to do something to save your life (in the entertainment space for context) what would you do? I looked at you looked at the person that brought me to you looked at you again looked at the person that brought me to you looked at you again then said honestly Sir I would write music(a song). The person that warned me decided to try to shutdown the answer I gave but then you shut the person down and I was genuinely happy, then you told me that in the same situation you would tell a story. Sir the work you did on earth was heavenly and to a lot of us you were heaven sent. I wish we could have brought another story to life but this is where the story of your physical body ends because you are with me in spirit still guiding me.

Rest well Dad.

I have not posted anything about the situation until now because I have still not come to terms with the fact that you are gone and I can’t speak to you one more time. It hurts me because there are so many things I wanted to tell you and I told myself I’ll tell you when I get back to Abuja with a lot of good news, but I can’t. I have screamed and shouted where no one could see because I am not good with grieve but your passing hit me hard. These are some of the things I wanted you to know:
Sir, in this entertainment industry you are my father, the first person in my life to be the closest to understanding what I am trying to do with my life and not look down on me for it, in fact you helped me shut the mouth of one of the people that looked down on me from the first day we met. You gave me opportunities that trained and that training is part of who I am now. You saw potential in a young boy that most people had given up on and said he just needs structure. You sat down with me and advised me on my career and life, I took notes. Sir you opened your space to me and told me not to make myself a stranger, giving me a family in this industry. The last thing you told me when we saw last was that I should go and complete the thing in my life that I needed to complete, and that when I was done and got back that there would be work for always. Sir I have completed it and with flying colours, getting ready to show you the evidence but now… . The opportunities you gave me to learn on the job with were no small joke but serious and big business that due to my lack of experience I would have never smelled them in a few years, but you gave me the opportunities, believed in me and trusted me to succeed and deliver. The pictures on this post are from one of the opportunities you believed and trusted me to deliver. I owe a lot of who I am today to you Sir. I cannot tell my story without mentioning or rather stating the name Mr. Dimbo Atiya. It really hurts me that you would not be around to see your son grow up into the man you believed and knew he would be. Rest in peace DAD
