Despite not being on the bike at the moment, Mike can’t help but stay plugged in to all things bike! 👊 He’s a wealth of knowledge and experience, so we’re tapping into that with his top tyre choice tips. First up: His 3 Maxxis favourites and when he chooses to run them 🚵‍♂️

The go-to for racing in South Africa, especially in the Cape is the Maxxis Aspen ST 🇿🇦 It rolls fast while staying predictable through corners. Mike’s choice: 2.4” with 120 TPI and pressures at 18 PSI for both front and rear. ⚡

Mike’s pick for racing in Europe is the Maxxis Aspen 🇪🇺 It offers great braking traction for those steep descents where you need that extra control. His go-to setup? The 2.4” option with 120 TPI and pressures at 18 PSI for both front and rear.👌

When the rain hits hard and the trails turn thick, wet and squishy, Mike reaches for the Maxxis Severe 🌧️ The 2.25” option with 170 TPI is his pick for a tyre that moulds to the terrain and helps dig through the mud. At 21 PSI the tire is hard enough to dig through the mud rather than sitting on top.

Mike doesn’t use any inserts as he prefers the feeling of knowing what he’s ridden over so that he knows is he should slow down or speed up in the next lap

Got any bike questions for Mike? Drop them in the comments and we can do a follow up🙌
