The hopes of making an NBA return will have to wait longer after Simmons tore his Achilles.

How big of an impact do you think Simmons’s absence will have on the Kings?

An MRI has confirmed Ben Simmons tore his right achilles tendon during the Kings’ practice on Sunday. Unfortunately this means he’s likely out for the entirety of the 2026-2027 season. This is quite a shame for any player, but let alone a player that took a year off from the league to rehab his back injuries.

Do you think we’ll see Ben Simmons ever play an NBA game again?

DEVASTATING NEWS FOR BEN SIMMONS 💔

An MRI confirmed Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons suffered a torn right Achilles tendon at practice Sunday, ending his 2026-27 season before it even began, per @ShamsCharania.

The timing is brutal.

Simmons missed the entire 2025-26 NBA season and signed a 1-year, $3.5M deal with Sacramento in September as he attempted to revive his career.

And the comeback was starting to look promising.

In his final preseason game Friday:
14 PTS | 8 REB | 7 AST | 1 STL
5/9 FG | 26 MIN

The 3x NBA All-Star, former All-NBA selection and 2x All-Defensive selection was preparing for his first regular-season game since April 2025.

Now another major injury puts his comeback on hold.

Wishing Ben Simmons a strong recovery. 🙏
