I shot the absolute G's in Durtnap last month, but also did some casual shooting of the other bands that played that night, too! 📸🙂 I have been having fun doing more multi-act sets recently (film is expensive and it's also valuable to mix it up, keep it fresh, and experiment) and playing around with covers and stylized edits 🎨 It takes a lot of patience and practice and time and failure to discover and hone personal style, and so I'm using the pictures from this show as an opportunity to work through ideas and methods and see what works and where efficiencies can be made 👨‍💻 Are these elite? Probably not. Are they cookie cutter? Maybe for now. But at least I'm not just trying to rip off the Kevin 🐐🐐 @kevoscope and @supremeoverlordkevin as I see far too often these days 🫣🖼

In the wise words of Pablo Picasso (and updated my first architectural mentor, Cathy Zukerman, may she rest in peace) "Good artists copy, great artists steal, and if you play your cards right, you can not give a shit and do whatever the fuck you want." 🤔💚

How were the bands? This was my first @mudtomb set since the @m.a.d_productions Red Card Mini-Fest last June and this June they still sounded awesome 🔥 I've been getting to catch my share of @mictlanhc this summer and you won't see me compaining!! Those guys rip and know how to bring the violence 😈 I like @detonate_chi a lot and always appreciate the opportunity to catch their set. Their debut EP released in February which means you've had almost 6 months to check it out now, what are you doing??? Get on it 😤🎧💣 I'd never seen @kingslayermi but the pre-show hype was real from some of the homies and wowee this set was heavy as hell 🏋‍♂️ Keeping an eye out to catch them the next time they're in town 👁The final opener was @fullnelsonhardcore who put on one of the truest, bluest hardcore sets in the Midwest 🔵 It's no wonder my buddy @bearfightingphotography is such a die hard, there's plenty to put on the line every time these guys take the stage 🤼‍♂️

Thanks for humoring me ☺️

Thank you to @bellowsfilmlab for devving and scanning all of the film from this show 🧪🎞

Gig alert! Very psyched to share I’m throwing together a semi-last minute show for Giallo and En Love Thursday, August 6th at Refuge. The new Giallo LP is probably my favorite hc record of the year, it is an absolute scorcher. En Love kicked off Tied Down on the main stage a couple of months ago, come see them rip it up in a much more intimate space. Local support by Kingslayer and Courage. Please help spread the word. I know there are a lot of other big shows that week, but Giallo is awesome, it’s their first time here and they’re coming all the way from Minneapolis, let’s give them a proper Detroit welcome.
