Come join me at the Vermont Film & Folklore Festival, in Bennington, VT!

I’m excited to share that my video triptych, Messages from the Marsh, Parts 4–6, has been selected for the Vermont Film & Folklore Festival at Bennington Theater in Bennington, Vermont, taking place November 5–8.

The work will be screened twice on Friday, November 6:

🎬 Documentary Shorts 1 📍 Main Stage (331 Main) 🕚 11:00 AM

🎬 Documentary Shorts 1 📍 The Underground (331 Main) 🕐 1:00 PM

“From folk traditions and remarkable personal histories to environmental change and rediscovered archival footage, these documentaries offer intimate portraits of people, places, and communities. Together, they explore the ways we preserve memory, carry stories forward, and find meaning in the landscapes and traditions around us.”

VFFF brings together film, oral tradition, and the written word in a dynamic multidisciplinary experience rooted in community, culture, and creativity.

If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you there!

I’m deeply honored and excited to share that I’ve been selected as one of the 2026 SMFA at Tufts Traveling Fellows.

This year, ten artists will travel to destinations around the world to conduct research and seek inspiration for their artistic practices. I feel incredibly fortunate to be among this talented group of artists and scholars.

Thank you to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University for supporting this work and making these opportunities possible. I’m grateful for the encouragement I’ve received throughout my artistic journey and look forward to seeing where this experience leads.

Here’s to exploration, learning, new connections, and the discoveries ahead!#sealevelrise #saltmarsh #environmentalart #videoart #smfaattufts

Working across varied mediums — from thick sculptural oil paint and gestural #abstractpainting to immersive video projections and #soundart — Elif Soyer (@elifsoyerstudios), Debra Samdperil (@art_debrasamdperil) and @amykaczur converge on themes of organic accumulation, transformation, and dynamic #ecosystems in three solo shows that have their opening reception tonight fro 5-8 p.m. at @kingstongallery, 450 Harrison Ave. #43, @sowaboston. “Each exhibition explores how complex structures emerge over time through chaotic interaction, memory, or environmental flux.” Soyer’s “Native Pollinators” presents a series of dense, highly tactile paintings that mirror the generative, “lovely chaos” of her urban garden. In “All is not Lost,” Samdperil approaches abstract painting as a vehicle for discovering ideas rather than illustrating them while Kaczur screens “Flux and Flow: The Great Marsh, Messages from the Marsh,” an immersive video and sound installation that combines underwater and aerial drone imagery highlighting coastal salt marsh locations along the East Coast projected to be submerged by 2050 due to sea level rise.

All three shows run through November 1.

SEEN HERE:

Elif Soyer, “Government Please,” mixed media on perforated aluminum repurposed fencing strips, 18” x 18”.

Debra Samdperil, “A Piece of Pie,” 2026, oil on canvas, 24” x 30” x 1 1/2”.

Amy Kaczur, “Marsh Mending 1: Great Marsh, Ipswich, MA,” video still.

Gallery siting today @kingstongallery I had enough time to complete a new ‘murmuration’ drawing in my 8”x8” sketchbook. Inspired by my imagination and the thick 100% cotton paper in my @luchetti.co that opens flat. I began these drawings @atelierair residency in Ireland but it looks as if they are coming home with me @phylewen.

Excited to be showing in " From Memories" at House of Art in Hingham, MA starting TODAY through the month of October! Opening reception TONIGHT Sept. 25, 6 - 8pm. 102 North St. Hope to see you!

Gallerist and Curator, Emma Richardson, writes:
" From Memories brings together three artists who transform recollection into form — not as nostalgia, but as an active, tactile, and deeply embodied process. Across sculpture, painting, and hybrid constructions, the exhibition traces how memory lives in the body, in landscape, and in the quiet marks we return to over time. Each artist works from what remains: fragments, sensations, shapes, and emotional residues that persist long after the moment has passed."

Peace is something we all need. That’s why this painting is so dear to me. It is about finding peace in the midst of the storm.
And this painting has made quite a journey:

Selected as a @saatchiart Chief Curator’s Pick
Included in juried exhibitions, including @kingstongallery in Boston
Featured in the winter show at @greenhillnc in Greensboro
Licensed as the cover art for a book about fathers and sons
Featured in #saatchiart #globalperspectives catalog

Now, the original will be featured in Booth 27 at #TheOtherArtFair in Atlanta, October 1–4.

I hope to see you there.

More than anything, I hope you find peace today, whatever you may be facing. The kind of peace that is unexplainable and confounds the storm around you.
Much love.
