#211 Fallen tree and nightdream

The fallen tree in
this particular spot in
the forest
calls me to
speak my dream from
last night.

Where am I going?
I am looking for the departure lounge.

The tree lies
with a number plate still
intact
among the overgrown
moss.

The horizontal body
shows countless
pathways of
their body:
finely divided branches.
the exposed root ball.
and even a den into the earth.

Her bark
peeling like
an old carpet.
Damp and warm.

I need to shout.
I am not sure if
I need help or
need to save something.
I need to shout.

But my body produces
no voice.

My tree lies under the magnificent tree.

Near the earth,
under her body,
a gateway crack
through that
I can see green.

I squeak my voice
and
at the same time
I come
awake
on my bed.

A weekend with @kinshipworkshop in Hebden Bridge💚thank you @katyecoe and Poh Eng San for your generosity and care 🍃🌳🐞🔥

“As I pull you I climb with ease
belly low like dragons wings
I rise to upper ground
and lay amongst the bilberries
feed me, stain me,
You are alongside me as I move
through gentle cushioned land”

The Hermit.

An invitation to slow down, the card is but so is this reel which is longer than you might expect but I was fascinated by this process of making fire so here is a very niche reel.

Leaving you with your thoughts and Tom, making tea from fermented rose bay leaves for us on a cold December morning in a cave by the sea on the Isle of Bute

@sense__ability came together as a group of collaborators in the spirit of kinship and a shared belief that through the discovery of integral knowledge and the rediscovery of land based traditions, practices and ways of being, individuals and communities can design regenerative cultures and environments that integrate the living wisdom of the body and the land.

@sense__ability will be based for five weeks at @thecryptgallerylondon from February 26 presenting a programme of 73 events that include live music, storytelling, screenings, lectures, and workshops, immersive walks, meditations and more.

In the daytime, this is an open access space enriched by soundscapes and scent scapes made of forged plants where you will discover works of art and craft by:

@muzuriware
@sophie.l.ferrier
@wolfgangbuttress
@thomblane
@taylornoble_ceramics
@cornishkate
@elle_darley

this is also a space that offers a selection of warm drinks and ferments by:

@landfoodmedicine
@communityapothecary.wf
@oldtreebrewery
@sentiaspirits
@dartmoorestatetea

And the curated reading corner in partnership with @resurgencetrust

The Hermit.

There is an interesting contrast that happens when we look for some time away. Time away often means away from society or people and being alone, but often when we do this and go for a walk we encounter animals, we encounter the wind, sun, the sound of the birds, the smell of the underwoods, we encounter our thoughts, memories, ghosts of the past... We end up feeling actually the opposite of alone, but more complete, reunited with the world as if being in society was actually the isolating experience and earning for time away was missing togetherness and being reunited with our forgotten relatives.

With @goodwin737 on the Isle of Bute.

Update: I have decided to withdraw this offer due to lack of take up! Please do get in touch if you would like support through mentoring & I very much hope to offer some in person support sessions for creatives in south somerset soon.

As someone who works at the edges of things, between disciplines, always reaching out of what I'm in, and loving living in rural isolation, finding my creative community has been a struggle!

I definitely work best when I'm in regular contact with other creatives and feel part of a supportive creative community, but the right people aren't always in the right place at the right time.

If you're an alternative creative who'd like some creative accountability, a loose but steady framework in which to troubleshoot issues with other creatives and get feedback on work in process, plus 121 mentoring, the Singing Apple Press Creative Support Group is def for you!

Follow the link in my bio to explore the structure and see if it fits. Any questions DM me here or message me through my website.

Groups run on Weds evening for the 9-5ers or Fri mornings for those only free during the day. See what fits! Hope I'm able to help 💪✨️
