Second half of the summer has me running on no sleep (what’s new), lots and lots of work like so much working (not pictured), fun and sweet memories, so many friends & babies & good places to see! & reminded so much lately of the overflowing and never ending free gift of grace we are offered by Jesus. TYJ! Lots of play, little sleep (just how I like it). Bring on fall!

Suffering, yours and mine, causes collateral damage, of course. But it also hands us collateral gifts. These aren’t consolation prizes or silver linings. They’re deep, complex blessings that exist because of our pain, not despite it. Gifts that add a value no perfect life ever could.

Today is my 3 year anniversary of my cancer diagnosis 🎉. This diagnosis changed me and my family in ways I never saw coming. There was never a world where I saw myself with cancer. But we don’t get to write the details to our story…or even write our story at all. It feels like God took the pen out of my hand of the story I was writing…but it actually wasn’t in my hand all along 🥹.
Feeling grateful today for good health, even better friendships, a husband that supports me in every way imaginable and kids who I am so proud of and adore.
Seasons don’t last forever…hang on to that one today.

Truly my dream come true. Garrett knew my dream was to have this night at my grandparents’ house because my favorite memories and times with the Lord have happened here, right by this pond. Garrett and his family made sure this could happen for me, and it was more than I could’ve imagined. My favorite place with all my favorite people.

Never too late … to post Spring Break. ❄️💍

I just finished the same 3 mile walk/run I’ve done for 26 years. Today as I was passing the same elementary school my kids went to I saw the kindergartners outside playing. I did what I’m sure most of you have done…I instantly could envision kip out there playing with his friends. I remembered all the days I sat in my car waiting for him to come out and all the days I sat on that same bench those teachers were sitting on… watching my kids play after school. I wondered if I would have known then that he would be getting his Aggie ring, and making amazing friendships, and going to college with his cousin, and having his sister give him his ring…or that he would be spending a semester away working at a big construction company in Dallas for a semester…would I have worried less? I doubted my parenting so many times with my boy. I never knew if I was doing the right thing.

It would be nice in life if we had the vision of what was to come instead of just the rearview mirror…but I fear that if I had known I would have missed out on all of the opportunities to trust God with the process, and lean on all the friendships built during those times to help guide us through, and all the lessons learned along the way.

“If I had known then what I know now, I could have been still and let it all work out.”

So today I reminded myself that in all the things I am struggling with and fearful of for the future…I can let go and remember that I can’t see what and why today…but I will be able to one day.

And I also thanked the Lord for Kip and the man that he is becoming and how incredibly proud I am of him! Gig’ em 👍🏼 I love you kip and can’t wait for your senior year!
