There are so many reasons to travel. For us, the most important ones do not involve bucket lists. We are grateful for all the people we’ve met and befriended throughout the past ten years of wandering the continent in a campervan (@folksblogendotcom). We remember each one, where we met them, often more than once and in different places. Ted and Julie are friends we met ten years ago in NOLA and Austin. We’ve wanted to cross paths ever since, and it finally happened in Nova Scotia. We talked, laughed (Twizzlers!!!), explored, ate and loved every minute of getting to know these two wonderful folks. Thanks for trekking from Baltimore to see us! #tenyearsofmeetingfolks #travellingfriends #friendsfromtheroad #folksblogen #vanlife #vantravel #neworleans #austintx #marathontx #alpinetx #baltimore #newglasgowns #capegeorgelighthouse #halifax #novascotia #vw #vanagon #westfalia

Ten years, several states, a couple of provinces and countries later and we were finally reunited with Ted and Julie. We first met in the Backstreet Cultural Museum in New Orleans in October 2014 and then again about a week later (coincidentally) in Austin, Texas. After a couple of fun-filled days, we agreed to meet again in Marfa, Texas, except the alternator in our 1990 VW had other plans. We waited five days for a new alternator in Marathon and missed our planned meetup. We’ve kept in touch for the past decade, knowing we’d meet again, and this past week, it finally happened here in Nova Scotia. We’ve said many times that the best part of travelling is the people we meet. #thepeoplewemeet #wealwaysmeetagain #peoplearethebestpartoftravelling #travellingfriends #neworleans #austin #marathon #novascotia

We’ve said it before and we’re saying it again, ‘One of the best things about travelling is the people we meet.’ It doesn’t feel like it but the last time we saw our friends Buck and Camp was 8 years ago in Marfa, Texas. Marfa is the town where they live, work and love. We personally think these two wonderful humans are the main attraction to this cool high desert town. We found out they were coming to Toronto on Wednesday and tonight we met for drinks (yummy mocktails for us!) at the rooftop bar of the Broadview Hotel. And the icing on the cake, we got to meet three more awesome people tonight. Thanks Ted and Julie for suggesting we stop by the Wrong Store in Marfa 9 years ago! That suggestion lead to a lasting friendship! We love y’all!! #thepeoplewemeet #travellingleadstofriendship #marfatexas #marfaintoronto #toronto #broadviewhotel #rooftopbar #wrongmarfa
