As one door closes, it opens the door to so many new opportunities. I wouldn’t be who I am today without the blue jacket. Whether it was learning to live the FFA motto—Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve—or having the unwavering support of Mr. Brown these past four years, I’m endlessly grateful for every opportunity, lesson, and memory this journey has given me. This blue jacket has shaped me in more ways than I can count, and while this chapter comes to a close, I can’t wait to see what’s still to come.

A special shoutout to the people who made these years so meaningful. To Mr. Brown—thank you for believing in me, pushing me, and supporting me through every opportunity and challenge these past four years. Your encouragement has meant more than you know.

To my vice president—my best friend, Kira—thank you for always being there. Thank you for jumping into competitions with me last minute when I decided we should throw together a demonstration. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face, for all the laughs and memories, and for every early morning Dunkin run. I truly wouldn’t be who I am today without you. Thank you for being by my side through it all.

And to the newly elected Central Columbia FFA Secretary—my sister, Elyse Karnes—thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. I loved every competition we were able to compete in together, especially the memory of us both earning first place in Employment Skills in the senior and junior divisions. Thank you for always encouraging me to put myself out there and go after new opportunities. Thank you for being exactly who you are. I am so proud of you and cannot wait to see all that you will do and accomplish in the blue jacket. 💙💛

On Friday, January 23, 2026, several Central Columbia FFA Members traveled to Danville Area High School to compete in the North Branch Area FFA Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event (CDE) and the Employment Skills Leadership Development Event (LDE). Members competing in the Ag Mechanics event applied their hands-on knowledge and skill while completing tasks in areas such as plumbing, electricity, arc welding, mig welding, general shop knowledge/safety, and hand tool identification. While students in the Employment Skills event prepared a cover letter, resume, application, and thank you letter as well completed a in-person interview. All members received great professional feedback from the judges and grew in their career interest area of agricultural. Congratulations to all competing members.

Congrats to Kira on earning her Keystone Degree! She’s done an amazing job with her placement and excelled in equine judging, employment skills, and agricultural sales. Holding the roles of Treasurer and Vice President shows her strong leadership. It’s great that she enjoyed both the State and National Conventions. Wishing her all the best as she heads into farrier schooling!
