Winning isn't all Judge's choices and Best In Shows, but personal wins as well. We often forget this, getting lost in the stage awards, it can feel like progress had halted. Little did we know, we have been improving in strides, we just couldn't see it.

Personal goals are so so important for tracking growth, and I'd say more importantly, having a positive relationship with competing.

Here’s a little bit about our special guests!

Kiri Cosplay is a cosplayer, costume maker, and fashion designer who has been bringing characters to life since 2011. Over the years, her work has taken her to both national and international cosplay competitions, with costumes showcased in Paraguay, Japan, Argentina, and Canada. In 2019, she became the runner-up in the Chilean finals of the World Cosplay Summit.
Beyond competitions, Kiri is passionate about education and community building. She shares cosplay sewing tutorials and practical crafting tips online, focusing on accessible techniques and budget-friendly methods to help others grow their skills.
Locally in Saskatchewan, she organizes community crafting meetups like “Crush the Crunch,” where cosplayers gather to work on projects, exchange knowledge, and support each other before conventions.
As an immigrant to Canada, Kiri found her community in a new country through cosplay, and that’s why she loves bringing her international cosplay experience to Conventions and helping foster a welcoming and creative cosplay community.

WOW. What a convention… this was our first time ever winning!! Both Alanna and I put so much time and effort into our cosplays, and getting recognized for that talent through the competition pushes us to keep making, and to keep competing.

As always, @mothandfern.cos (Alanna) makes my con time better :3 please give her lots and lots of love on her AMAZING Vi cosplay, and all her other characters too!!

I think I’m at even more of a loss of words than last year.

I threw my hat in the ring last minute, just wanting to be on and back stage with my friends, and didn’t think I’d walk away with first place. I started her in 2021, and throughout the years, I made upgrades and addition pieces, including the shoes and the staff (that I never thought I’d touch with a ten foot pole). A dream cosplay that finally has done her run and what a great way to go out.

HUGE shoutout to @kiri.cosplayca — whom I got to FINALLY meet, @1tohit — whom has been sneaking up behind my award photos since last year, and the incredible @myralor.cos for being such incredible judges. Still trying to figure out if I somehow paid you all off, but we all know I ain’t got that kind of money, so I am forever grateful you believed in my work. I promise to continue to strive for nothing less than perfection for you!

Now time to shout out @wookiegirl75 for not only being the most amazing cosplay Cordinator but also being such an important figure in the cosplay contest scene all these years. Call me selfish, but I’m so glad I got to be up there with you one last time. I will forever be grateful for everything you’ve done.

And for @pieces.cos for having an incredible first run. You want something run like the Navy, I know the man for you. I know you have big shoes to fill, and I know you’re going to kill it every step.

I know I was pretty silent for Edmonton Expo. But I promise I was there! And all who did see me and said hello, it was wonderful to see everyone!

I was kept busy for the majority of the weekend. Con moming for the Cosplay Contest and helping @pieces.cos and @wookiegirl75 with the Cosplay Guests. But I had such a wonderful time despite my feet being sore, and my voice being a little shot.

It was wonderful to work with the Cosplay Judges @myralor.cos @1tohit @kiri.cosplayca and making sure all the cosplayers were comfortable.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Calgary Expo next year and working along side Rhys again.

Love you all. Thank you Judges for indulging me in my still apparently signature spin for a video. As its been over a year since I've posted anything. You are all wonderful!!!

I am so very grateful that during my break from the competition scene everyone is still so welcoming. I promise I have lots of plans. Materials and planning is taking place very slowly. And I hope you all will enjoy what I build next.

Con dump from Retro Game Con last weekend!
I didn't take a lot of photos during the con because I was busy having fun, browsing the wares of the over 100 vendors present, and being a booth helper, but I'll post what few I have.
This was a fun con to attend and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has even a slight interest in older games; I managed to find several for the different systems I have that I'm excited to try out!
I also decided to enter my Carlos de Vil cosplay (not pictured here but I got some good shots with @veronicascallionphoto so stay tuned) into the cosplay contest and ended up winning a prize?! I wanted to thank the judges @sewrenitycosplay, @vertchalcosplay, and @cosplaimee, as well as the coordinator @kiri.cosplayca , who were all super nice to talk to and made the cosplay programming over the weekend a great experience. And the Cosplay-Eh qualifiers were AMAZING, all of the performances were brilliant and I got to see a lot of the costumes up close and they looked *chef's kiss*.
