Living in Los Angeles here are some more of my fav sweet spots and breakfast bites. Check out part one for more favs.

@trumansbakery they have some of the best rustic bread around! Perfect for bfast toast. I also love their cinnamon roll!

@erinmckennasbakery I tried their salted carmel donut and sugar cookie. Pretty yum. Their banana pudding was also worth checking out.

@kitchenmousela this is a gem of a spot! That breakfast bowl was delicious!! The muffin was good too. But that breakfast bowl is so flavorful, I can’t stop thinking about it!

@hugosrestaurants they have so many meal options (shared in my upcoming lunches post) but their chocolate cake was pretty yum!

What a bittersweet and beautiful night at the Hollywood Bowl. ❤️🎶

Tonight marked the close of @gustavodudamel’s extraordinary 17-year tenure with the @laphil, and it had me thinking about how much music (and food) have been woven into my own LA story.

Back in 2012, I had a condo in Downtown LA, just two buildings from Walt Disney Concert Hall. I remember seeing these huge posters of Dudamel conducting, that unmistakable hair flying everywhere, and thinking, Who is this guy with the hair? 😂

Then I finally saw him conduct the LA Phil, and I understood.

Thanks to Geoff and his LA Phil season tickets, I’ve been lucky to see Dudamel conduct many times over the years. There’s something truly electric about the way he leads—the joy, intensity, and humanity he brings to the music. The @laphil is extraordinary, but with Dudamel at the helm, they felt transcendent.

I’ve also loved the inclusiveness and imagination of his programming—from championing Latin composers and bringing their music to LA audiences, to creating opportunities for young people to experience and perform classical music. Tonight was a beautiful example: Michael Giacchino’s “Hymns of the Heart”, with words by the incredible @amandascgorman , brought students from under-resourced schools and a children’s choir together with the LA Phil, followed by Beethoven’s Ninth and “Ode to Joy.” ❤️

And another part of my LA story came full circle tonight.

We sat in the Pool Circle, where guests can order dinner from Lucques. Since we’re vegan and I’m gluten-free, we brought our own dinner, along with Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen vegan cheeses and desserts. I got to catch up with my former boss, Chef Suzanne Goin, owner of Lucques, who had such a huge influence on me as a chef. And, funny enough, Geoff kept giving her my cookies to try. 😂

Geoff was actually the person who first introduced me to Suzanne’s food in my 20s (25 years ago). Her cooking changed the way I thought about food and was part of what inspired me to go to culinary school. I later had the privilege of working for her at Lucques and Tavern, an experience that helped shape the chef I became.

Hidden Frogtown gem for brunch & pastries. Those fluffy biscuits! And I love a breakfast crunchwrap 🔥

Cozy Burbank craft beer bar with an impressive food menu where everything can be made vegan and all the scratchmade sauces & condiments are vegan by default. Their housemade Vegan Whings & Korean Bowl are both fan faves. I’m prob here a bit too often 😄

Cute & quirky Highland Park cafe & bakery where literally everything is amazing but I always have to get Chilaquiles cuz I just don’t get over here often enough!

Tucked into a North Valley strip mall, this traditional Lebanese bakery & takeout spot is a personal fave. Whenever I’m in the area I’ll stop in for box of mini spinach pies, breads, Impossible kibbeh & more. They have amazing felafel & all the Mid East faves, plus Impossible shawarma & vegan chicken wraps, etc. The staff is very knowledgeable & I always feel super confident about the vegan options.

TBH I’ve kinda gotten into a rut where I’m usually too busy to share much more than my merch & event info, but today I’m deeply procrastinating on packing for Portland 😂
