September you were something...

Glad to put this month behind me with some good food eaten and many, many tears.

Not much to highlight but have chosen the best.

Got a feeling October's gonna be good 😊 (already have a lot planned, but anything can be better than September at this point). October has already topped the charts 1 week in 👀

Probs lots more tears to come, and a few more races before my season over 😨

Running has a funny way of becoming so much more than running.

It can take you somewhere new. Introduce you to people you never would have met. Give you an excuse to spend all day outside, jump in the sea, dance until late, try something completely new.

That’s really what Love Trails has always been about and ten years on, that’s still the part we love most.

Four days on the Gower packed with trail runs, sea swims, live music, workshops, wild landscapes and a whole lot of very good people. It’s big, joyful, a little chaotic in the best way, and somehow still manages to feel incredibly personal.

📣 Tickets for Love Trails 2027 go back on sale next week on Thursday 1st Oct. Join the waitlist now and get first access when they go on sale.

What a ride.

I’ve got some recovering to do before I can put the weekend into words, but for now, here are the numbers:

218km covered. 32 hours. 4000m of climbing. 240,000 steps. 16,000 calories. Zero sleep.

A lot more than I expected from my first backyard, and after the last few weeks / year I’ve had. But once you’re in it, you’re in it.

Somewhere in the middle, internal bleeding started, and shortly after I finished, I collapsed twice and it was very much game over, followed by 48 hours in hospital.

A million lessons learnt, and in a roundabout way some deep-rooted closure around just how far I can push myself.

One thing is for sure - I couldn’t have done it without my absolutely incredible team made up of two of the most formidable women I know @kitbirks and @megan.runbritain, and the legend of the game @kitocal_media.

A couple of other things are also for sure - I need some proper rest, but I’ll be back.

GB Slam...

It's as easy as 123

In all honesty it wasn't though. A year ago after completing the 50km I decided I needed to go even bigger and with the launch of the 110km single stage the only obvious answer was to complete the single stage slam.

It broke me though, it has pretty much been a cycle of complete the race and then no running until the next 1, so I progressively got worse as the lack of training hit, and the course got harder.

I didn't do it to win anything so at the end of the day times don't matter, I wanted to prove to myself I can do hard things and I did just that.

A few people have asked what's next and honestly I don't know, the plan is just to complete Madeira and Morocco then give myself a break - the body seriously needs it!!

Take this as your sign to push yourself and try a hard challenge because mentally and physically you are so much stronger than you realise.

100 GB slam one day?? 👀

Yard 22 is underway, 141km covered up to this point (actually 145km as the course appears to be slightly long according to Sam’s watch.)

6 runners left in the fight, with the next big milestone of 100 miles fast approaching, we could be seeing that number reduce very soon.

Who wants it most?

Ultra X England 110km

Feel like the first picture sums it all up...

Nutrition was none existent and I've never felt so nauseous in my life, this pair with horrific weather meant I was out for over 24 hours - definitely not my initial goal.

My favourite fit to date and I completed the Grand Slam with it (more to come on this), but looking good = free speed right??

Was happy with the first 60km and got to talk to lots of people then spent from CP7 to CP10 collecting a little gaggle of guys and basically dragging them around, slower than I wanted but at least it meant company 😂

But I did it!!

330km completed so far but the season isn't over yet 👀
