Recently, @asitshouldbefilm received 🏆Best Picture (Gold) 🏆Best Actress (Bronze) at the MxM Awards. I honestly didn’t think I had it in me to make something like this. As always, i’m really grateful to everyone who was part of this and for how the film has been received so far. As the film continues its festival journey, we’ll keep sharing it where we can! — As It Should Be / 此刻剛好 2026

@asitshouldbefilm is now (technically) award winning?!! 🏆 Best Short Film 2026 (Gold) 🏆 Best Lead Actress (Bronze) 13th Edition of the Microfilm Production Hong Kong Awards This 11 min 11 sec short film is the labour of love from 30+ cast and crew and 3+ overnights, and I know something that many of us did solely out of belief in the project. Bringing to life this original script, score, set design, and story was a reward it itself - no less as a first time debut experience for many of us - but goodness me, this experience may have just very well encouraged us to now have to create even more! o.o Thank you @microfilmxmusic for awarding us the funding and giving us the resources to realise this story. Creating art and films especially as I’ve learned can be a very costly venture, but I know we strongly believe that it’ll pay off tenfold, even if sometimes, in a different, intangible currency. Thank you to Edwin and TTY for believing in me having never acted in a film before, and creating something that I’m proud to have been a part of. To Joshua So, my longtime creative collaborator, I love the song we’ve made. To my family, and especially my partner May for taking care of our newborn so that I could do this. Biggest and definitely not least, thank you to the As It Should Be ‘family’, swipe till end…I love the last shot of us taken when the cameras weren’t rolling : ) I hope this isn’t the first and last table we get to share. Where to next? x #shortfilm #cinematography #hongkong #originalmusic

「也許我只是想找到一個家」 《此刻剛好As It Should Be》 一個關於Homecoming，家與溫暖的故事。 身處在我們成長的年代，難以啟齒的那些，這一夜各種話語以最溫柔的姿態著地。 @edwlain @ttyyvonneeee @christie_chang @sheisjoya @joshua_arvy_so @asitshouldbefilm @microfilmxmusic

「As it should be此刻剛好」 I’m just really happy we did this, together. This film became so much more heartfelt than I ever imagined. Maybe I’m biased haha, but I fell in love with it again and again every single time I watched it. To our cast — you guys are the best family on screen 🥹 and sunfu shai for all the overnights!!! To the crew — dream team, dream team. I can’t be more grateful for every single one of you who poured your heart into this with us. I’m really, really proud of everyone. And especially @edwlain — writer, director, editor! I couldn’t be more proud of you! Watching your vision come to life has been something really special. I’m so glad you wrote this story out of love and honesty. I’m so happy I got to do this with you, and I’m grateful we made it all the way here. I truly believe there are many more to comeee! Special thanks to my art team — I truly could NOT have done this without you guys. The props, the costumes… you brought our vision to life. 有你們真好🫶🏿 And most importantly, @sheisjoya — thank you for trusting us. Thank you for building this world with us. I hope this first on screen experience is unforgettable for you, and I’m really looking forward to what’s coming next 🥹 Well and yeah I gotta say — I’m proud of myself too haha, Executive Producer and Production Designer on As It Should Be. And I’d do it all over again! Here’s a little trailer for our film:) Scroll through and see some of our BTS❤️ and I hope you’re proud too! Anddd 順便拜個年 新年快樂 🧧 Happy Chinese New Year — may you always be surrounded by people who feel like home. ❤️ A @cineozstudios production

“as it should be 此刻剛好 “ this short film about family set during Chinese new year and made in Hong Kong, is now off to begin its journey through festivals! sometime last year, the team at cineoz called me one afternoon and broached a question - there’s this short film initiative that would involve an original composition/song, you acting, and a completely original script…and we’d like to do this with you. But the application would be in 3 days, and there’s a chance we won’t get it. lo and behold, a few months later here we are with a few firsts for all of us - my first short film - @cineozstudios very first short film - @joshua_arvy_so very first short film score - my and Josh’s very first original song to be on film (written on set to end the film) - first time acting with this cast (meeting some lovely “family”) As Hong Kong kids who bonded some over our love for creative endeavours, with a perspective marked by the unique intersection of Hong Kong’s east meets west energy - I’m so grateful we were able to make something that we’re proud of, that captures our history, present, and hopefully a future where not everything is picture perfect but parts of it are “as it should be”. Making this short film inspired me and gave me hope - hope that where there are humans, there will be a need to create and express oneself through the arts hope that the majority of people are good (or so we’d like to believe) even if the news gives louder voices to the ones that aren’t hope that tradition and open mindedness can exist (traditions were once new ideas at one point) This film was made by a Hong Kong cast who felt like a believable family, talented independent crew, filmed in Cantonese (with subtitles) in Hong Kong - made possible by a 20+ crew who pulled 3 (maybe more for some) all nighters over the holidays to make this happen. Details on a Hong Kong screening date (on a big proper cinema screen) to come after a few festivals rounds x happy chinese new year, may you be able to be and loved for your full self ## #shortfilm #hongkongfilm #hongkong cinematograpgy
