They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds.

In The SEEDS collection I focused my color story on Orange to represent Truth & Reconciliation, resilience and to honor the survivors, like my great grandmother Rose McLeod, and all families impacted by the Indian Boarding Schools. The orange began with composer @maliobomsawin s Oscar’s Gown for the @sugarcanefilm about Indian Boarding Schools.

Today we honor not only the survivors but those who did not make it home. As mass graves are continuing to be uncovered, this history needs to be known. The assimilation and genocidal tactics against Indigenous people on this land should not be buried. We are the seeds that continue on with these stories and the pain of the past while actively reinvigorating our languages and culture in their honor. Today is a day of mourning and a reminder of our resilience. 🧡

#NFWSF was an absolute honour to be a part of. It was our first time being a part of such an incredible event in Indian Country. As southern Indigenous peoples this is a milestone built on a legacy of connecting our communities together across borders, a value we hold strong through thick and thin. To be seen and celebrated for who we are was legitimately live-giving.

KAWSANKI by @yana_manta was expanded into 12 looks, using traditional Andean silhouettes, driving contemporary southern Indigenous fashion into never-seen-before lengths. WOW 🔥

Yupaychani shunkumanta/Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who made this possible. @amberdawngold and her whole @nativefashionweeksantafe @jamprodco team, makeup, hair, tech crew, for making this happen, building a space of celebration, laughter, and genuine connection. The models, who brought each piece to life, connecting to the voice of our great grandmother singing, letting ancestral power come forth. Our Pacha Arts Dad, who dreamed and directed the music as part of an upcoming project called Indigenous World.
