‘The Artist at 100’ had its first screening at @asffestival last week. To sit there with an audience for the first time, to hear the chuckles, feel the emotion, and sense the love all around us, was something truly special.
And to have Tony there was something else entirely. It was proof of why it was so important to make this film. Your resilience in life is inspiring beyond belief, and your love for art is timeless, all-encompassing and deeply moving. It’s a reminder to every artist of what art is truly about: self-expression, the human condition, exploration and determination. It’s about sticking to a creative process built over years, it’s about the personal becoming universal, it’s about fierce creativity in the face of adversity. And it’s also about support, love, and care, because an artist never lives in a vacuum.

You inspired so many of us to come together and make this film, and it has been the most beautiful journey.
