A full circle moment: November 15, 2013, @mselizabethr applied and became my first @kjandco intern. I still have the email with her perfectly polished resume and cover letter. ⁠ ⁠ She won me over on our first date —I mean, her interview. 😍 I was smitten with her lashes and sense of humor. She was a shoe-in for the job. And I hoped some of her fashion sense would rub off on me.⁠ ⁠ Obviously, she was an A++ intern, and we kept in touch over the years. With our shared love of Real Housewives and little black hearts, how could we not?! 🖤⁠ ⁠ When Libby reached out for her wedding day, it was an emphatic "YES" for me. Where do 𝙄 sign?⁠ ⁠ It was the prettiest day. And so sweet. We were all abuzz and happy to be a part of your and Matt's long and windy love story. I laughed all the laughs, and teared up too. ⁠ ⁠ All that wedding research and royals-watching over the years paid off. You had the Meghan Markle bouquet of your dreams and your very own Ryan Gosling. ⁠ ⁠ You made me so proud Libby. 🤗 I'm so thankful after all these years that I got to be a part of it. It should be working for you sooner —growing your portfolio and attracting your Ideal Client. ⁠ ⁠ Yes, features give you clout, but do they get the right eyeballs on your website and Instagram? ⁠ ⁠ As long the images can be a shining star in your marketing plans, you've got a win on your hands. ⁠🌟⁠ ⁠ Prioritize building your brand over a "featured in" badge.⁠ ⁠ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮! ⁠ ⁠ 👍 No models needed.⁠ 👍 No gowns to risk damaging.⁠ 👍 No exclusivity clauses and waiting. ⁠ ⁠ Have you done a branding shoot yet? They're a 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 important content builder. Plus, you get to double dip all that time and money you've invested in a shoot. ⁠Portfolio images, 𝙥𝙡𝙪𝙨 branding photos of yourself. ⁠ ⁠ Exercise your design muscles, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 work on a project that isn't compromised by your client's budget or taste. ⁠ ⁠ 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁.⁠ 🤩⁠ ⁠ We snapped these photos with my tablescape at #lecollectif2019⁠ in about ten minutes. How it started vs. How it's going, the wedding show edition. ⁠From humble beginnings to producing an entire show!⁠ 👉 Swipe right for the journey.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ We loved a filter back in the day, didn't we? ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I still remember and talk to some of the brides I met at my very first show in January 2013. I started with a simple table set up —the smallest investment to participate— and filled it with my vintage rentals and a hand-painted sign. This photo doesn't make me cringe. I was thrilled! ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Two weeks later I would be completely self-employed. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Two months later I visited #theCreamEvent in LA and the seed was planted. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 2014, I got a small booth this time and a printed sign and recycled our wedding ceremony backdrop. The roof leaked right in to my booth on custom ordered glittery event carpet. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 𝗜 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 2015, I was beyond excited to participate in the @wedluxe show, but I didn't book anything as a result. It was also that year that I started thinking more seriously about producing my own show, and started reaching out to venues and hunting for the right spot.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I was pregnant with our second when I finally decided to go for it. Most people thought I was crazy to take on more. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I booked a location and started selling exhibitor spaces, one by one. The day before Calder was born, I was at the venue taking measurements.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I remember the day tickets went on sale. Calder was napping in his car seat in a McDonald's parking lot while I cried tears of joy because @holdrightevents had bought the first ticket. Later, she would be a KJ & Co. bride.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I was literally jumping for joy at @wedwellshowcase 2019, seeing all that hard work come to fruition. We hosted again in January 2020, with so many friends and family helping make my dreams come true. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Go for it. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ I watched the 2020 highlight video the other day and got a little misty-eyed. Here's hoping that we can start fresh and stuff swag bags again soon.⁠⁠

Deer in the headlights with a side of overwhelm. 😬 That's the look on a lot of faces when I run a Pinterest strategy session. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ And I get it. ⁠It 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 like a lot when we squeeze it in to one coaching session. But broken down in steps, it's easier to implement than it sounds. 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 📌 I don't expect anyone to completely makeover their Pinterest or schedule dozens of optimized pins in the blink of an eye. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ With a ⁠𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 plan to follow, you can make changes and implement new pinning habits one step at a time. Maybe that means slowly but surely over the next few weeks, and batching your pins once or twice a month. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ It's easy to put it off when you have no idea where to begin, but don't wait much longer.
