Yesterday was an unexpected group ride with Tyler and his two guests. I’m glad I adjusted my plans this week. It was a hard 25 mile ride on a very rocky road along the coast. Originally it would’ve been a 65 mile ride with lots of climbing and a fully loaded bike. This was much more enjoyable. Tyler drove us from the hotel to the start and joined us on the ride. His team drove the van to our endpoint and then biked back to their cars. Lots of coordination for him, but it worked out great for us. Part of the ride was on a “beach” - an extremely rocky section that we walked. They were about 10 water crossings. Many I could ride through but some were rough enough that i had to walk. Tyler dried Susan’s feet at one point. We relaxed at the end of the ride and then had a 45 minute drive to a café. The drive was along a road with a steep drop off. The story goes that a farmer was frustrated with the long drive to visit his neighbor. So one day he took his tractor and started to bulldoze the road around the peninsula. We got back to isafjordur late afternoon. I hosed off my very dirty bike and cleaned myself as well. Then I met Tyler & his guests for an amazing fish dinner - a real Icelandic experience at Tjöruhusid
