We started off thinking about the score in terms of what you hear at weddings. This led us to open the film with a jazz trio and string quintet that ends abruptly as someone hosting the rehearsal dinner taps the mic to make an announcement. This wedding instrumentation continues on and harp is added later.

When the sisters are arguing, not only does the score reflect that with a more atmospheric string and piano sound, but the jazz playing on the other side of the wall becomes slow and moody.

The music ends with my favorite track “Tub Talk / End Credits”, which plays the sisters’ theme with strings, harp, and piano to show reconciliation and excitement for the next chapter.
