This week, third year art students from @_eesi_ecole_art_ discovered the Berlin based project-space @gr_und through their Erasmus + traineeship 💛 They learned a lot about the project’s story, the co-foundator James Verhille’s career, the different features of artist-run spaces, the great exhibition Plastic Palm Trees Never Die made by students from @klasse_robert at @udkberlin who gave us a guided tour of their show… Lucky us ! As part of “Spätschicht x Pop-Kultur Festival” the @klasse_robert will once again showcase Interpretations of Yoko Ono’s ”Grapefruit“ on Thursday, 5 June from 15:30–19:30 ✨ Looking forward to having you!

Over the course of several months, students of Jimmy Robert’s class at @udkberlin engaged with Yoko Ono’s instruction pieces, exploring the potential of imagination as a catalyst for empathy and collective action. Through their performances, participants respond to selected instructions with vocal, physical, interactive, or conceptual interpretations – sometimes individually, in pairs, or in groups.

Ono’s instructions compiled in ”Grapefruit“ were written between 1953 and 1964 and convey her ideas during this period. The book is considered one of her foundational texts and a cornerstone of conceptual art.
