Did you know that… sometimes it’s not easy to “shoot” a photo?

In any case, our photographer @fuxogram #liveclimbrepeat had to be quite brave for this shot. The members of the climbing group training here specifically installed a fixed rope in the upper section of the rock face, to which he was secured using ascenders. They then rappelled down again for the photo and climbed back up once more. This allowed Alex Fuchs to capture the scene from an overhead perspective.

The whole thing took place during the “Eistotal” ice-climbing event organized by Black Diamond in the Pitztal Valley

Ciril Jazbec’s film for Feel Slovenia, Slovenian Culture: A Bonfire of Creativity, Art, and Craft, has been officially ranked 4th Best Tourism Product Film in the World at the World Tourism Film Awards 2025, organised by CIFFT with the support of UN Tourism.

Competing among more than 4,000 tourism films worldwide, the project earned multiple international awards, including Gold in Japan, 2nd Place at SilkFest (Belgrade), 3rd Place at the Amorgos Tourism Film Festival, finalist status at the US International Awards (Los Angeles), and a Silver Award at the 7th International Tourism Film Festival (South Africa), culminating in its 4th place worldwide ranking in the CIFFT Circuit 2025.

Directed by @ciriljazbec and produced by @tentfilm, the film traces Slovenia’s vibrant cultural life through the eyes of writer @slovenology (Noah Charney), moving between literature, architecture, art, craft, and shared ritual.

This month I competed in Ice Climbing Cup for the very first time, and it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere, the challenges, and the level of competition motivated me even more than I expected. I’m happy with my performance, but I’m also aware that there is still a lot of work and training ahead. This was just the beginning, and I’m truly excited for what’s coming next and for the upcoming competitions.

I am especially grateful to Klemen Premrl, who has taken over the leadership of our team in the role of coach. Klemen is one of the most accomplished ice climbers, with many years of experience at the highest international level, including World Cup competitions and some of the most demanding ice and mixed climbs. His dedication, discipline, and deep understanding of both the physical and mental aspects of the sport are truly inspiring. Having the opportunity to learn from someone with such knowledge and experience means a lot to me, and I’m very thankful for his guidance and support. @klemenpremrl

It still feels like a dream that I sent Era Vella a month ago today!

The amount of stoke and support has been immense! So where does it rate on the on the “Climbing Life Experience Spectrum ? “

I never thought a sport climb would be the highlight of my climbing career, but the experience I’ve had with EV has launched it into pole position, over taking Spray On Top at Helmcken Falls (2013) with @klemenpremrl. Sitting in 3rd is the east face of Kedar Dome with @ianparnellphotography (2006)
.
I think what it comes down to is, how much effort we put into it. The bigger the challenge and the more one has to push themselves to reach it, the more powerful the experience is when completed. I always thought that an element of risk was a contributing factor but I now realise this isn’t necessarily the case!

After a season full of satisfactions in the Dolomites, I felt the desire to create something of my own, something new.

Thus, in the already well-known cave of @tinecuder , a new line was born — the longest one so far.

First ascended on 28.9.2025, and based on my humble experience I propose the grade D15. With this, it also becomes the hardest dry tooling route in Slovenia.

May 3rd. My eighth time on the route.
Training was going better, diet was on point.
That day, I set off with zero expectations – just the desire to give it a try.
When I got into the crux section… I went through it.
Even Luca was surprised.
I felt good. And suddenly, I was on the last hard move: a strange undercling deep in the roof. I latched it. I held it.
I was through the crux.
I still had about 45 moves to go.
I blocked out every thought, every doubt.
Total focus – just like in training.
It became a test of endurance, composure, and mental clarity.
After 1 hour and 20 minutes, with my calves cramping and my arms shot, only one final move stood between me and the anchor.
I shook out, grabbed the hold, pulled the rope…
It slipped.
I shook out again. Breathed.
Grabbed the rope again.
“Click.”
The most beautiful sound in the world.
I didn’t even have the strength to scream.
I just let go and fell.
Luca stood in silence, thinking I had fallen on the final move.
But when he heard the Slovak climbers cheering, he realized:
I had clipped the chains.
Back on the ground, it took me a moment to understand what had just happened.
Honestly… I’m still not sure I’ve fully processed it.
