Dreams do come true… my 3rd harvest of Agourolado— a special kind of olive oil you don’t find in grocery stores, is history. Logistic issues caused some delays this year but about 500 bottles have been shipped to all corners of the world.

I rebranded this year— although still calling it “Agourolado” which is what it’s called in Crete— from the word “άγουρο” or unripe. My rock star designer Christos Kliafas @kliaf in Athens took an old photo of my grandfather, Michael Papadomanolakis, and created a brand that was 100% me— crazy, whimsical, fun and edgy. He actually put my grandfather on top of an olive.

This oil is made from unripe Tsounati olives, found only in Western Crete. The olives are tiny and hand-picked weeks before they’re fully ripened. This means it takes 3 to 4 more times the olives to make a single batch. All of these things make it much more expensive to produce. But the health benefits and taste is nothing like standard extra virgin olive oil.

Oil from unripe olives was used by Hippocrates to cure and treat more than 80 ailments. Today, modern science has proven that the high polyphenol count in this particular kind of olive oil (called high phenolic olive oil) can provide lasting benefits to your gut health, your brain function— even your sex life. I have a few bottles left to sell if you’re interested (link in bio). A huge thank you to my customers who continue to purchase this olive oil year after year.
