This is Book 2 in Never After series which is dark romance inspired by childhood classic movies. This one is based on Lion King so I had high hopes as it's my favvvv! I really loved how she drew up on parallels from the movie to make the story while also keeping stark contrasts to keep the story fresh, I was very impressed by the adaptation aspect. However, I really did not like and even despised the main characters and had many icks. Halfway through I started skipping the spicy chapters I was too icked out. It picked up towards the end very well in terms of plot but I was not invested by then.

Loved the buddy read with

✨️ Book Review: Scarred ✨️

After enjoying Hooked, I went into Scarred expecting to love it just as much… and honestly, I didn’t 😬 That’s not to say I disliked it, though!

I found the first half slow to get into. And I’m all for morally grey (and downright morally black 😅) characters, but I just wasn’t rooting for either brother during the first half.

Thankfully, the second half picked up! The action, spice and pacing all improved, and we got more context and layers to the characters, which made me more invested.

I did love having a strong FMC, and I enjoyed the Lion King links, even if they did feel few and far between.

And Sara and Tristan’s chemistry? 🔥 I was definitely here for that… although I could have done without the pet name 😒😂

Overall, this one was a bit of a mixed bag for me, but I’m still looking forward to book three because it sounds so good!
