#EngagementoftheWeek Alert! 💟
Erik mentioned to Hannah that he wanted her to take a day off work (if you know Hannah, you know that she finds it hard to do that!) so that they could attend Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame and then spend the rest of the day together. He said that their friend who is a photographer was going to take some pictures of them for fun after Mass, so he suggested they get dressed up. Hannah says, “I didn’t understand why this was happening, but I went along with it anyway. After church, we went down to the grotto to meet up with our friend and her husband so that she could take our pictures. We took a few, and when I turned away for a moment and looked back, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! That moment was so exciting and surreal, I will never forget it. We spent the rest of the day with our families celebrating the engagement. Something extra special that happened that day was after the proposal when we were about to leave the grotto. A priest that my family has known for many years just happened to be walking past the grotto on his way to a meeting on campus and we ran into him! He prayed over us and blessed my ring which made the day even more special for us!”
