Full day of wild WFH sounds...

So, I got this really wild opportunity to curate a show for the lil theater at MoM, the Museum of Museums.

It’s called MoMtv: Music + Video from the Emerald City. Like MTV, get it?!

I cut a lil trailer together so you can get a taste.

Twelve music videos from thirteen local legends. From pop to punk to rock to rap, these songs songs have one thing in common: they slap!

Curating the collection was so nuts. There’s such an insane amount of hot hot jams comin’ outta this city! And cutting the trailer was the best cuz these vids are real real cute.

It’s been so much fun watching people enjoy the collection over the last few weeks, but August 31st is the last day to check it out, so pop on down to the Mudede Theater, kick back, and enjoy the show!

The lineup is insane, you guys.
MoMtv features videos from the amazing:

Archie The Shycon - @archietheshycon

Caspar Babypants + Chong The Nomad - @chongthenomad

Dude York - @dudeyork

Enumclaw - @enumclaw.online

Hollis - @holliswongwear

Julia Shapiro - @im____constipated

Knife Knights - @knife_knights

Michete - @michetemusic

Samara Lennoxx - @samaralennoxx

So Pitted - @sopittedplayers

Thunderpussy - @thunderpussiez

Zahara - @zzsings

FINAL WEEK!

August 31st is the final day to see our current round of exhibitions. So come down to the Mudede Theater, have a seat, and enjoy MoMtv - a collection of music videos from thirteen of our favorite Emerald City Artists.

The show also features the work of brilliant video teams across the city. Visionary directors, editors, grips, gaffers, choreographers - the list is limitless. From pop to punk to rock to rap, these tracks have one thing in common - they slap!

These videos are a testament to tremendous talent and teamwork right here in our backyard. Three cheers to all the blood, sweat, and tears that go into bringing a song to life on screen.

Playing now in the Mudede Theater at MoM, and August 31 is the last day to see the programming.

We encourage you to stop by MoM Wednesday through Sunday, take a seat, and enjoy this beautiful collection curated by Kyle Bain (@hello_manica) - only one week left!

Knife Knights is a Seattle-based black collective that makes mind-twisting Afrofuturistic experimental music. A lot of the artists featured on this page create their own unique sonic ambiance, but perhaps none more so than Knife knights. Inspired by slow moving techno, R&B, Soul, and Hip-hop, Knife Knights multifaceted sound is incredible difficult to pin in. Put simply, Knife Knight’s music sounds like something out of a dream, or nightmare. Groovy and slow, with unmatched flows, this black collective is sure to gain traction soon. With only one album released as of yet, who knows where the group will take their sound next. Their music certainly is not for everyone, but those that appreciate the nuance and strangeness will fall in love with the sheer vibes. Some of our favorite tracks include Light Up Ahead, My Dreams, and Can’t draw the Line. Stream their music on all major music streaming platforms. @knife_knights

It breaks my heart to read today that @bootlegtheater is closing. That theater has given me so much over the years. They gave me a space to create some of the best work I’ve ever done for some of my favorite bands at a time when I was having a hard time breaking into the LA music scene.

They provided a community that was welcoming and safe, and at the same time exiting! Bootleg had wrestling that helped me connect with friends I otherwise would have had a hard time connecting with. They had Allagash White on tap which reminded me of home. Their Monday night residencies were some of the best in town. I met my partner at a Bootleg show.

Thank you Bootleg theater for taking a chance on me, epsecially @therealofficialtommy and @sidthecatpresents for letting me do what I love to do and making me feel less alone. Please enjoy a sampling of some of my favorite gig posters I made for them.

Keep Music & the Arts Live ... join us by continuing to support Arts & Music within our communities and in their venues.

This Weekend marks one year since the Covid19 Pandemic closed up our venues in March of 2020 and ultimately has affected all Arts programs worldwide. Tell us about your last art or music venue experience and what show, what venue, what artist, what city you celebrated and supported this weekend last year?

Café Weekend is owned and operated by POC working artists, and located at the bottom of a 60 unit artists housing. When we are not behind the bar we are working and celebrating the arts within our communities and industries daily.

Help us by purchasing your coffee from local arts minded indie shops like Café Weekend. Thanks to @caffevita for their collaboration with @kexp to donate $2 for each purchase to @keepmusiclivewa plus let’s celebrate their new eco-bags now on our shelf and move toward a greener future together.

Robert Beatty is a musician and visual artist from Kentucky. His artworks are exceptionally peculiar and seem impossible to pin down. Although the pre-digital style hints to sci-fi illustrations from the 70s, you are left with an uncanny uncertainty. And that’s exactly the feeling he wants to invoke by not giving too much away. “I really like not telling people what something is, or how to think about it,” he says. “I don’t like having an artist’s statement — I want the work to speak for itself and let people make their own interpretations.”⠀

Time for an emotional health break -- I'm on retreat this weekend with a group of powerful POC womxn standing vigil for the culture in community and reflection. My homegirl @heavywet made this amazing art piece with love in honor of #breonnataylor .
Breonna would have been 27 today. We will remember her. We will teach our daughters about her. And we will have justice.
.
For those of us in the PNW who think the imbalances in justice don't hit our doorstep, I ask you to spend time, empathy and energy remembering these names as well: Manuel Ellis. Charleena Lyles. The Victim of John R.K. Howard.
.
Sending energies of love and perseverance to all this protesting today and tonight.
.
And for those not on the line, I encourage you to #buyblack on Bandcamp today, support @blackvotesmatterpac or @blklivesmatter and never forget - even when it's easy - to create in times of struggle and stand in times of oppression.
