🔥Honoring a Philly First, we’re proud to introduce the artist behind this week’s #1 sculpture, Jenn Procacci @jennprocacci Jenn Procacci is a visual artist and designer working in a variety of media. She often utilizes mural making, painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture in her practice. Procacci has worked with Mural Arts Philadelphia since 2010. Her honors include generous funding from the California Arts Council and Community Foundation of Mendocino County. She is driven by the way public art activates communities and promotes egalitarianism by breaking down the socio-economic barriers that often control access to the arts. Procacci holds a Bachelor of Art from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art & Architecture. In 1965, the first Annual Rights Reminder picket took place in front of Independence Hall. This piece features historic photographs of the event rendered as a high-resolution print, paired with a vibrant rainbow sky that symbolizes the LGBTQIA+ community’s ongoing pursuit of equality, protection, and freedom. The work honors the courage, activism, and enduring impact of those who advocated for civil rights and social justice. See the #1 sculpture for yourself at the Firstival this Saturday, June 20, from 11am-1pm. 📍Firstival Location: Philly Pride Visitor Center, 12th and Locust Streets @knockphl will be offering a 20% off lunch special during this weekends event! @discover_phl @visitphilly @constitutionctr @muralarts @pcomeducation @phlvisitorcenter @historicphilly @onwurd @palottery #52firstsphilly #phillyfirst

🌞🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🐧🪩🎶🎼🎵💃🏽🕺💖 Love, music, dancing, sparkles, & goood times with great people all around! ✨ I had so much fun yesterday! Something I still want to work on is saying hello and striking up conversation with others. I take Earl 🐧 with me whenever I’m traveling solo bc Earl helps me feel more comfortable being myself. I do hope to one day just get over the nerves/fear and chat it up with less hesitation! Cheers to places and people that bring out the joy & pride in others!!! 🎉🥳 #daylightdanceparty #phildelphia #philly #filipina #pride

PAUL The bar on Locust is gone. Not closed — stripped. Someone came in the night and took everything removable. The sign is still bolted above the boarded-up front door in Old English letters cut into distressed metal. I knew the bartender, a guy named Steve who moved here from Harrisburg for this job and used to pour generously. I don’t know where Steve went. The Gayborhood is different now. Not in a way I can fully describe, aside from the absolutely heinous Registry, the dwindling number of businesses, or residences with red tape in an X across their doors. Changed is accurate but not enough. Hollower. When a city loses its gathering places it loses the tissue that connects people, the informal network of proximity and recognition. I know this because I have spent my whole career facilitating it. I know what it feels like when it tears. 🏳️‍🌈 #firsttheycameforphilly #yophillymag #billypenngram #phillycurrent #abandonedworld

✨Nostalgia & New Memories 🌃Wednesday Nite 🎵🎤 (a few weeks ago) This night was so much fun!!! 🥰 Got to rock out & be in my feeeeelz with awesome people 🫶🏽 I have very fond memories of Philly’s Gayborhood. Some of my first experiences “clubbing” 😅 or just going out to a bar or place to dance was with my older brother. We’d take the train to Philly w/ friends & after hours of non-stop dancing & shenanigans, we’d end up at the one pizza place!!!🍕😆 That was over 15 yrs ago! 🤯⏰⏳🪰✈️ 🥳I’m grateful I got to experience late-night/early AM gayborhood pizza at this stage/ new era of my life!!!💖 #philadelphia #Filipina #phillyGayborhood #millennial #nostalgia
