What happens when a chauvinistic man wakes up in a world where women rule everything? 🧠💥 Directed by Thea Sharrock, Ladies First (2026) lands on Netflix as a bold, gender-swapped satirical comedy based on the French film Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile.

The Review: A Clever, Subversive Mirror-World Satire
The story follows Damien Sachs, an arrogant, high-flying advertising executive who is on the verge of a major promotion when a freak accident knocks him unconscious. He wakes up in an alternate parallel universe where the traditional gender dynamics are completely inverted. In this matriarchal society, women hold all the wealth, political power, and corporate dominance, while men deal with street harassment, objectification, and corporate glass ceilings. To claw his way back to his original life, Damien must play by the rules of his fiercely intelligent new boss, Alex Fox. It is a playful, eye-opening comedy that turns real-world double standards completely on their head.

Special Mention: The Powerhouse Cast

Sacha Baron Cohen (Damien Sachs): Leaves his typical slapstick persona behind to deliver a brilliant performance as a ruthless chauvinist forced to learn humility from the ground up.

Rosamund Pike (Alex Fox): Absolutely commands the screen as Damien’s unapologetic, powerful boss. She brings her signature sharp, intimidating gravitas that makes her the perfect alpha leader of this matriarchal society.

The Brilliant Ensemble: Legends like Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, and Richard E. Grant add spectacular comedic weight, making this bizarro mirror-world feel incredibly realized and funny.

The Verdict

⭐ IMDb Rating: 5.8/10

Watch it if:

You love high-concept, thought-provoking comedies that challenge societal norms.
You want to see Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike go toe-to-toe in a sharp battle of the sexes.

Miss it if:

You are expecting deeply nuanced, complex political commentary; the film handles its satire on a fun, surface-level layer rather than diving into deep societal critique.
