What happens when KODE meets GRAW? 🟢

For this special edition of the KODE SP-01, the mirrored surface becomes a canvas for GRAW — Groot Rotterdams Atelier Weekend.

Inspired by the GRAW poster design by Studio Beige, I translated the graphic language into a composition of green mirrored shapes. A one-off speaker made especially for GRAW, and gifted to Annejet Gosselink, Carly Rotten & Ayse Karssen, the organisers behind the weekend.

🔊 KODE × GRAW
19 & 20 September
Coolhaven 600, Rotterdam

During GRAW, we open the doors of our studio and show work by:

Powerboat
Fokka Deelen
Max Kortmann
Saghar Afzalnia
Mirjam Ippel
Iris Nieuwenburg
KODE / Bas Kortmann

Come in, look around, meet the makers and discover what’s happening inside the studio.

You’re very welcome.

POV: You’re looking at a mirror… until the bass drops. 🪞🔊

Watch closely. That isn’t just a reflection—those subtle tremors in the surface are the sound waves of the KODE SP-01.

I stripped away the bulky boxes of traditional audio to create something entirely different: a Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) that turns a 3mm acrylic mirror into a high-fidelity acoustic surface.

Driven by an exciter and suspended on a RVS bracket with an oak base, the SP-01 challenges what a speaker should look like. It’s ultra-thin, completely functional, and designed to move both the air and your space.

And because I believe in design that respects the planet, I engineered it to fit perfectly into a sustainable, flat-pack A4+ shipping box—reducing bulk and minimizing the carbon footprint.

Art? Audio? Design? You tell me.

New KODE speaker test: a different amplifier with tone control and stereo set-up. And because the internet requested Big John: here it is. I tried connecting a second powered speaker with True Wireless Stereo, but that was frustrating. For now, I stick with the humble cable. If you haven’t seen this speaker before: the mirror is producing the sound. ❤️ and repost, or send this to someone who you think would like this speaker. If you want one, send me an email: info@studiokortmann.nl @kode_products #productdesign #kodespeaker #speakerdesign #designlovers #kode

What would a laser do on the KODE speakers? It makes the space shake! 🫨 just a very quick test after the many requests 😅 In the meantime, I am planning the first drop of a limited and numbered series of speakers in January. #kodespeaker #speakerdesign #soundimports #designlovers #lasershow
