Selfishly, this is my favorite photo from the weekend. It’s the smile.

Before the week gets going again, before the coffee cools, before the next thing on the list, it’s time to savor the moments from Saturday. Thank you @koldhearted.chris Thank you for showing everyone around you what it means to be smooth with purpose amid chaos. No matter if it was doing 4,000 burpees before walking casually to the sunlit porch to do work for your internship, then continuing on to do 10,000 total in Vermont, or calmly coming to share the challenge of going to college after being accepted but told not to come because they didn’t have a dorm room, or going back to campus to negotiate and hustle after they told you they wouldn’t let you back until you paid more than we had to give, you set a standard of strength by embracing the challenges put before you. It’s your smooth and confident approach that will allow you to face the constant chaos life will throw your way with grace and the ability to see the challenge for what it is; your next mission. You have a long list of achievements, and a longer list of people who you’ve turned to for guidance and input. You were the first to show up on weekends to do hard things as The Give Team formed in 2015, and you came to embody GIVE TEAM RULE 02: Life is a team sport. DRAFT ACCORDINGLY. You’ve surrounded yourself with family and friends and mentors with a deep understanding and appreciation of the fact that we’re all STRONGER TOGETHER. I’m so proud of the man you’ve become and cannot wait to see the next chapter you’re about to write. Continue down your path with gratitude, purpose, and love. Keep smiling, and stay strong, Chris.

💛✈️ Spirit shutting down completely threw a 🔧 wrench in my plans to make it to Greensboro for 🎓 Chris’ graduation from North Carolina A&T 🔵🟡. Then Frontier’s same-priced $93 ticket jumped 💲📈 to over $500, and so I honestly counted it as a loss that moment (considering other fees of travel).

But something in my heart just didn’t sit right about not being there for my boy!

So after a much needed solo date Friday night, I got home, laid in bed, looked up the ticket one more time… and THANK GOD it dropped. By the next morning, I was on a flight and making my way ✈️🚖🚆!!

Very last minute.
Very unexpected.
Very kind of me.

BUT hey, 🥳 CONGRATULATIONS @koldhearted.chris

First member of what ultimately became THE GIVE TEAM! Now he’s an alumnus of North Carolina A&T. It wasn’t easy, but @koldhearted.chris always made it look that way. An incredibly strong family full of love has been his driving force, and Chris found a way to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. But as with ANYONE who’s been successful, he didn’t go it alone. Many of you have played a role in giving Chris guidance and support along the way. THANK YOU!!! GIVE TEAM RULE 02: Life is a team sport. DRAFT ACCORDINGLY! And Chris has mastered the art of surrounding himself with really good people. Thanks to everyone for being part of Chris’ journey thus far. There will be challenges ahead, but there is no doubt that GREATNESS AWAITS.

GIVE TEAM RULE 08:
You gotta get up and GO GET IT.
Because it ain’t coming to get you.
And if it IS coming to get you…
You better get off your ass and be READY FOR IT. 💥

Nobody is given ANYTHING.
What you want? You EARN it.
That means HARD WORK.
That means chasing pain, chasing pressure, chasing the things most people run from.
That’s how you get stronger. That’s how you get better.

Earn the pain.
Own the grind.
GET MOVING. NOW.
