A Childhood Memory from Kerala 🌿

From Soil to Sip — Grow Your Own Herbal Story

I grew up in a small village in Kerala, India, where the monsoon rains were heavy and the air smelled of wet earth.

Whenever we had a cough, a cold, a tummy ache, or even just felt a little low, my grandmother wouldn’t reach for medicine first.

She would simply step outside.

She would pluck fresh tulsi leaves, Ajwain leaves, and other herbs growing around our home. Into a small pot they would go — along with crushed dried ginger, black peppercorns, turmeric, and whatever sweetener we had that day — honey or jaggery.

She would let it simmer slowly.

The whole house would fill with warmth and spice.

That cup was more than tea.
It was care. It was protection. It was tradition.

Growing up, I never imagined that one day I would become that person.

So stay tuned for my teapot stories 💕🤗♥️

Something exciting get brewed with a lot of love ❤️

October 5 years ago I was running my retail store in Melbourne stocking 30+ ethical and sustainable fashion brands, and at the same time, organising a massive pre-loved designer wardrobe event with 20 industry peeps to save fashion from landfill. I don’t do things in halves 😂

October 2019 was gruelling. When I got handed the keys to my store, I walked into a shop that wasn’t fitted out the way it was meant to be and we had to seal the concrete floor ourselves and open from scratch. It wasn’t supposed to be that way but I didn’t want to waste time fighting for it, I wanted to open when I’d planned to. I could have marinaded in my problems but I’m the type to move forward and use them to grow stronger, get smarter.

So we made lemonade with lemons and I’m so glad we did.

Our #Beaumaris store went on to build the most amazing local community of eco shoppers and we made an insane amount of sales for our ethical and sustainable designers.

It laid the foundations for our second store in Hampton the following year, and suburb by suburb, TFA built such a beautiful community.

I would catch the train from home and get off about 5kms from the store so I could walk the rest of the way, choosing a different direction each day so I could hand deliver post cards to mailboxes to promote the store. Me, the owner, the founder, because I knew I had to #getshitdone when I didn’t yet have the budget for advertising.

I worked 7 days a week most weeks, but I had an incredible support network, a beautiful team of staff who I loved and who shared my vision, a partner who was (and still is, crazily) there for all the midnight push-through’s and melt downs, and a mum who takes over the reigns when I need to sleep on the floor for 10 minutes.

I worked HARD but I LOVED it.

October 2019 five years ago was intense, amazing, rewarding, such a massive growth period and such a flex of everything I had.

And because I love what I do and I’m living my purpose, I got through it, and I’d do it all again because I’m #delulu like that 🤣

PURPOSE is powerful!
